Best decision ever! The first year is very hard. Employers are hesitant to hire you, because the “move back home” ratio is very high when initially transferring to the state. They hate to take a chance on you, and then have you quit in a couple of months.
Once you get settled in, it’s Heaven. Sunny warm mornings, walks on the beach, hanging out at the pool. Visiting parks, palm trees, flip flops, humidity. Awesome.

Maybe this is why lots of people choose to live in two climates. They live in Michigan or somewhere during the summer when it’s really nice, and then move to florida for the winter. Really, places with ‘warmer climates’ often have only two climates: warm and HOT, and I don’t really do hot. Mostly, I’m a shade plant kinda woman. I like to sit under the beach umbrella.

I’ve thought aboutthis goal for a long time, but I’m coming to the conclusion that some things are just things you think you should do, or maybe used to want to do. I think if moving to a better climate really was my number one goal, I would have accomplished it by now.

I’ve lived in Canada a long time, and it’s a great place, but I’m tired now of long winter nights, short winter days and chipping ice off my windshield. I think looking for a way to live in a warmer climate will lead to other goals…and a good part of the rest of my list may be oriented toward accomplishing this.
