For now we are finishing the basement. It just makes way more sense. Sigh. At least I know we couldn’t have afforded any architectural twists in an addition! This way we get more space without ruing my sweet cottage anyway. Any advice on making basements home-ish?

Let’s get through the garage first and those credit card bills, student loans, car note… and we’ll think about it. But by then I might make it to uptown.

I built it 6 years ago so I could get a hot tub. Now my hot tub’s broken. The motor went. But my significant other thinks he can fix it. I love sitting in it in the morning before my day starts.
Serious Christmas crush this year. In addition to a smaller tree, there will be four times as many presents as we’ve had any other year with the little ones in residence! I am not going to attempt to put the glass ornaments on this year, rather they’ll be displayed behind a glass door.
Oh, how I wish we had enough for the addition right now….
I loved my other house…. yes, the other house. It’s kitchen and bathroom were so large, so much storage, even a laundry shoot. My oh my do I miss it.
Then my husband had a lovely idea. Let’s move to the farm house across the street from his office. While that is wonderful on gas and the scenery is magnificent, my kitchen and bathroom are tiny.
I have one useable bottom cabinet, and four useable upper cabinets. Being a farm house, our bathroom was an add on and is just the right size for a toilet, small sink, and small tub.
I’ve been telling my husband that he got the place that he wanted, now I’ll have the house that I want. Now I just have to convince him that this really is the best way to go! Any ideas?
So, I’ve got a tentative plan, but need to work out financing and get an architect over here.
