I just did my first day of week two in my plan. DAMN It was hard. I have to tell you in the second rep I wanted to be done, I wanted to throw in the towel, but by the third I was so short on oxygen I didn’t care any more. I pushed through. I was thinking when I was done, I was beating myself up for not being able to handle 2 min of running. But then I thought about last week, when I could only handle one. I have doubled my ability. Nothing to be singing to the heavens about, but something to be proud of. I think we forget that sometimes, we got so worried about where we are we forget where we are going. We forget that every little step gets us closer and I would rather slowly get there than turn my back. Thursday is my next run. Wish me luck, or just oxygen in my lungs!

How I did it: I started out run/walking for a few weeks. I increased my runs to three or four miles every other day. The key is to add miles gradually. If try to run too much too soon you will most likely become injured. Within four months I ran my first 10 mile race. Less than two years later, I ran a full Marathon! I am 40 years old and was a total couch potato. If I could do this, anyone can! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I started slow, a mile here, a mile there, then decided to get serious and bought a nike+ to track my runs and give me motivation. It worked I ran longer, then stronger I bought a book at hastings called "the complete guide of running for women" best 16 dollars I ever spent that was all I needed I signed up for a 5k began training and have been running ever since Read how I did it…

How I did it: You really have to allocate a small fraction of time each day to running. I chose 30 minutes after school in the afternoon. I had my clothes, shoes and socks in a pile ready to change into when it came time to go. I always made sure my ipod was charged because it makes it so much easier if you are distracted by your favourite song instead of the lovely burning sensation in your legs. (kidding) Also make sure you drink lots of water before… Read how I did it…

I think it may take more than 8 weeks, I have such a hard time with jogging/running. I just cannot breathe but I am training myself to handle it. I found an 8 week plan online that seems so far to be working (I just finished week one and sadly there was a huge difference from day one to the last day oh I am so unhealthy.)
Week One:
do your warm up walk
Speed walk 6 min
Jog 1 Min
Repeat three times
Do cool down walk
Three Sessions in week one.
Week Two:
Do your warm up walk
Speed walk for 5 min
Jog for 2 min
Repeat three times
Do cool down walk
3Sessions in week two
Week Three:
Warm up walk
Speed walk for 3 min
Jog for 4 min
Repeat 4 times
Do cool down
4 sessions in week three
Week Four:
Warm up
Speed Walk for 2 Min
Jog for 5 min
Repeat four times
Cool Down
4 sessions in week four
Week Five:
Warm up
Speed walk 2 min
Jog for 8 min
Repeat 3 times
Cool down
4 sessions in week five
Week Six:
Speed walk 2 Min
Jog for 9 min
Repeat 3 times
Cool down
4 Sessions in week six
Week Seven:
Warm up
Speed walk 1 min
Jog for 11 Min
Repeat 3 times
Cool down
4 sessions in week seven.
Week 8
Warm up
Speed walk for 5 min
Jog for 20 min
Speed walk for 5 min
cool down
4 sessions in week 8
Now you should be able to do 30 min solid aim for 4 times a week.

Starts today. I’ll be doing run 5/walk 3/run 5/walk 3/run 5 today, with a 5-minute warm-up walk. Five-minute runs are actually pretty tough at the level I’m at, and doing three of them is going to be HARD. Luckily, a three-minute break between each is pretty generous. I can do this.
Each day increases this week, whereas the previous week had the same schedule each day. Day 2 is run 8/walk 5/run 8, and day 3 is run 20 (about 2 miles or 3.2 km). Gonna be rough. I’m not going to push it though, I’ll take a break if necessary. I’ll try to get to 10 mins, have a little break if necessary, then do another 10.
Hard to believe I’m almost halfway there!
I got up and didn’t feel like “running” today. Yet I did go out for a little trot and a lot of fast walking. Tomorrow will be better. It has to be better, because I work all weekend and I know running is not going to work out until Monday evening/Tuesday morning. I do think I will try to walk on my work days.
I only run when I think people won’t see me. I’m considering a bicycle ride later, though. I don’t look so funny doing that.
coffee, 43 Things, facebook, yogurt, vitamins, and brushing my teeth…I did my little sprint-walk-trot thing this morning. Only one neighbor was out. She didn’t recognize me. It must be the new haircut…and I would be the last person she would suspect of running. It was good!

I hate running. I’m not athletic, i have no endurance, I get cramps all the time and my mind gets bored. However I love those sexy toned legs runners have and wouldn’t mind tonning up. The most important reason why I have to do this is because I take a PE baccalaureat (a final in french schools) in my senior year and I’ll most likely pick running.

I’ve finished week 2, which consisted of 90 second run/120 second walk for 6 reps. Week 3 starts today. 90 s run/90 s walk/180 s run/180 s walk for 2 reps.
Laughably short. But I haven’t moved my body in this way for many years. So I did a little walk-run thing. I learned that if I go full force, that cuts down on endurance (but it was kind of fun.) So I did some of that trotting that I see women in the neighborhood do. It was okay, and I could do it for longer. Now I feel marvellous.
I guess it is Couch-to-5K for me. I never thought I would try to run. Never. But the weather seems right and there is this amusing temptation that is hitting me. I’m researching that Couch-to-5K today and hoping to try it out tomorrow.
prufock is working.
Yeah, only 10 months later, I’ve finally started on the Couch-to-5K plan. Did my first day pretty well. I don’t actually have a watch to time my intervals, but I just count in my head. I think I’m counting slower than seconds, so I’m actually running longer than prescribed, but that’s okay.
Going for my second run this evening after work!
