My photos were accepted in to a local art gallery for a photography display for the month of September. My first art gallery reception is this friday! I’m so nervous, and excited all at the same time.
How I did it: Practice Practice Practice and a lot of patience
I asked family members to be my "models" and I did not charge anyone anything. I then slowly started with craigslist brides/families/etc that wanted photos and told them I am just starting out and I was willing to take their photos free of charge. Eventually I got good enough to start charging but I charge VERY LITTLE because I am still learning.
Lessons & tips: Be patient
Do not jump into bridals and weddings off the start. Start out little with kids, family members and even friends willing to be models for you to practice on.
Resources: photo forums, family support

I guess I have done ok. I won a 2 and 3 place ribbon and a whopping $3.00 in prize money!
I’m going to submit my same photos in an art show this weekend, it’s just a local event as well…I put my $3.00 towards frames and matts for the photos and they look really nice all finshed like that!

I would like to take a course in photography and improve my skills. Who knows maybe I’ll meet a friend with the same interest!
The other day I was stuck in traffic. The main road had been closed, and the tiny Washington DC streets were packed with barely-moving cars. Luckily, I always carry my camera with me. I’m sure the people in the car behind me thought I was the strangest person ever when I started taking pictures of houses and street scenes as I crawled along. As ridiculous amount of pictures later, I got some really cool shots. Not to mention, it made gridlock a lot more bearable. :)
Since I gave up on “take more pictures”, I think I’m gonna give up on this too. A good digital camera gives results that are good enough for me, at least till I decide I to take more artistic pictures.
I’ve been photographing for years wheather it’s on film or memory cards. However, I’m yet to find a few particular areas to concentrate. Portraits, landscape, sports, wildlife, they are all so interesting to me. I’m not interested in becoming a professional photographer. But as I’m stepping deeper into the world of photography, I start to question every photo I take. The more I do this to my photos, the more I feel like I need to go back to school to take some photography classes. So going back to school sounds more like another thing I want to do. Oh well…
Here’re some photos I took when I traveled to Italy last year. Enjoy!
I’ve bought the National Geographic Photoguide, a great pice of software that explains lots of interessting stuff about photography.
Highly recommendable!
