I’m renting the house I’m living in during the school year, and it’s been a disaster to try and keep this clean. My roommate is a boy who I’m pretty sure has never cleaned anything ever. Somewhere between the part where the house is old, there are some major plumbing issues, there’s one bathroom, there’s no dishwasher, and the worst cat ever resides here, a really huge problem was born.
I would be much more enthused about cleaning my house if the work would be split evenly…. and if the cat was gone!

I’ve been keeping my room clean for the most part, its my office room that is a mess! The computer desk, all all around it has papers everywhere. I clean it monthly but it gets messy really fast. I need to figure out how to keep it clean!

who has accomplished this?? tell me how you did it... 12 months ago

I think that its pretty funny that there isn’t an “how I did it” entry under this goal. we all must have pretty trashy places. :)

this should be easy and 13 months ago

I admit that I need to do way more with this goal!!

Oh the dog hair! 14 months ago

My dog sheds a lot, like a lot a lot. I should vacuum once a week at least, but it usually ends up being once every few weeks which is terrible. By the time I get around to it there are visible balls of dog hair on the carpet and in the corners. Sometimes you can see a dog hair ball blowing around like a tumble weed.

An idea 15 months ago

a discussion amopng a group about muses and projects brought up a possable idea for this.

The thing about doing my hand drawn mazes each day is that I often don’t feel complete for the day unless I do a maze. After over two hundred days of establishing that pattern it’s part of my comfort zone.

Perhaps the simple act of finding one to three things a day to pick up, sort and order or throw out will do the same thing for clenliness. I know my dishes pattern has changed since I went to the rule of one.

One plate, one bowl, one fork, one spoon one knife, one cup, one pot, one pan, one spatula. Use it and wash it so it’s ready for the next time. Now my mother is semi impressed when I visit that my plates and dishes are clean after I’m done eating. (I still have trouble getting it all dried and put away in her cupboards, mainly due to the arrangment of her kitchen, in mine it all disappears into their spots after washing.)

The funniest thing about this goal is that I haven’t really had to clean more. 3 out of my 4 kids have started back to school and there is not only less to do around the house but it stays much cleaner :)

Ahhh my kitchen looks so nice…I need to remember this feeling, how content and happy I am when I am surrounded in cleanliness. I need to harness it and use it to energize myself to keep it up. Cleaning is never this hard, only when I am pregnant, then I feel like a teenager dragging my feet and saying “Awe do I halfta do it?’. lol

I made a cool cleaning schedule and with the kids going back to school soon I should have my super neat and tidy house back. I used to be a slob when I first got married, but now I can’t stand messes or clutter.
