I’ve now signed up for blood donating through a form on the Internet. I’m not exactly keen on having needles put into the crest of my elbow but I really want to get it over with. This is something I have to do, even though I both want and don’t want to.
So now I’m awaiting an email from the blood doning central thingy.

How I did it: I am terrified of needles but I knew donating was something I had to do. I fainted the first time. Tons devo! The second time was successful though and I'm so gonna become a regular donor - for the awesome muffin + milkshake and the fact that I am giving a precious gift without charge to someone who needs it. How I did it: At school.. between classes.. I watched the nurse prep me.. stick me.. watched my blood flow through the tube.. all was well until the end when she politely took the warm bag of blood and set it on my arm.. then I got a little queasy! Read how I did it…
How I did it: When I was in junior college, I had determinedly walked to the school donation drive to donate blood. But the doctor let me go as I had low blood pressure. It was sad because I am terrified for needles and just as I conquered it, my BP did not cooperate. Since then, each time I wanted to donate blood, for some reason I would not be able to go. Either I was sick, I had returned from overseas, was on medication, way too busy, etc. etc. Fina… Read how I did it…

How I did it: Went to a high school blood donation event. Gave them my ID, and birth certificate. Took a test testing me for any possible diseases. Lied down. Got pricked. Laid bored for like 17 minutes. Got up too early and almost fainted (Drink the coke or snacks! It helps!) Walked away smiling. Read how I did it…

Today I went to local head office of AVIS (Associazione Volontari Italiani Sangue that meanks “Association of Voluntary Italian Blood Donors) to take the first step in order to become a blood donor.
AVIS is the major Italian non-profit and charitable organisation for blood donation, bringing together over a million volunteer blood donors across Italy.
The 1st thing that a wannabe blood donor have to do is to fill out an application form. That’s what I did this afternoon.
Now I have to wait for their call to know when I can do the physical examination, which is fundamental to make sure that donating blood isn’t hazardous to one person’s health.
As soon as I’m old enough, it’s going to be a must, no matter how afraid of needles I am.
I donated as soon as i was of age and have been every chance ever since! Good luck to you! You can do it!
My college had a hospital-sponsored blood drive, but of course I came down with the flu the night before. Ah, well.

So I went to the doctor for some things and he told me not to give blood too often that it adds no value to me other than helping others. He also told me not to give blood the day before I have important things to do like take tests! So, I am still going to donate blood next Thursday. It would also be cool to know what blood type I am in case I ever need blood that someone has donated

I hate hate HATE needles.
but blood’s in you to live and to give, and I can only hope to save lives if I give it.

When I was a college student, I donated blood about once every six weeks. The donor center was within walking distance from the dorms. You have to answer some questions and get your finger pricked, but you got juice and cookies, too. Definitely worth it! Also, I usually saw mostly women there when I went, but this is actually a great thing for men to do. They tend to have too much iron in their blood, and donating helps. So, MEN GET OUT THERE AND DONATE, TOO! It’s good for you and good for the people who need it!!! :o) Namaste
