I helped publish my first zine in 1998 and was promptly suspended from high school. I am proud to this day to say that they added an extra chapter to the school conduct handbook because of my group. It is the only good memory from school I ever had :)

My brother just came home with a printer a couple of days ago, so printing out proofs (is that the term? I don’t know) to take to the copier (which I’ll get to do for free, yay for friends who work the night shift at hotels) just made my road to zine publishing that much easier.

I already have a good idea of what I want to write about; I’m going to email somebody I’m interested in interviewing sometime this week (to chat about gender, sexuality, body image and eating disorders).

Being a published writer and having a zine go hand in hand so i am giving up on this goal because it’s basically the same.

My friend and I came up with this idea of creating a straight edge zine since there’s really no straight edge zines out there and we’re like “hey, if cigar aficionados and boozers can have their own magazines why can’t we?” so the plan was to finish it by this summer but shit happens and so far only brain storming has happened. :(
