When the fat march was on TV I was inspired to walk. We walked out of our apartment complex and about a block down and around. I really would like to explore some more. One time my sister-in-law and I ended up walking three miles, and found a river that runs over a road in a neighborhood. It was very cool. We had no idea where we were and had to look it up on the internet to find it. It was pretty cool, and I’ll never forget the feeling I got while exploring.

I’ve lived in Grant Park for over a month now, and I have not even walked over to the park or explored the area on foot. I have to do this before it starts to get cold out! Home ownership is sooo time-consuming.
I did make it over to Daddy Dz’s BBQ…it was yummy!
lynner um...hello again! I've missed you!
- never park in the parking lot
- don’t even think about using a cart.
- don’t ever go on a weekend, a monday, or the day after a long weekend (I went yesterday, the day after Labor Day, at 5:30. Ugh)
- Mornings are best.
- Stay calm.

this one is downtown, and i’ve avoided it mainly for the traffic. but today i had to go to city college to register for my spanish class and had to walk right through it.
what a pleasant surprise. it’s much bigger than the tuesday market, with more food venders, and there was jazz music in the park, too.
some things i got today: a baggie of raw, mixed nuts, an asian pear, 2 loaves of vital vittles bread, and a carton of goat yogurt.
i ran out of money (whew! i only had $12 on me) before i could buy blue bottle coffee, handmade tortilla chips and salsa, organic peaches and meat. i still have veggies from tuesday’s market, so i didn’t need any.
some other interesting vendors: a worm farm, several booths promoting composting and organic gardening, a 9/11 conspiracy display, a table with rocks, and a saurkraut maker.

this place is 2 blocks from my house. on the way home from swim practice this morning, i stopped in for a coffee, said hello to zazu and sauntered back to the house. hands down, the best coffee shop in the world, at least this slice of the world.

also halfway between home and work. this one has fantastic sandwiches, but v. expensive, $9.50 for a BLT. a bit of a splurge, might be a nice spot for a latte and dessert.
lynner um...hello again! I've missed you!
bread company. it’s about halfway between work and home.
how could i have missed this one? yummy sourdough cheese bread!
lynner um...hello again! I've missed you!
wonderful local market. huge mexican papayas, tiny colombian bananas, yummy real tortilla chips, and organic chicken from the butcher counter.
i like the feeling that i am in a market somewhere in latin america…
lynner um...hello again! I've missed you!
i like the one on tuesday afternoons.
