I’ve been learning English for five years now, and I’ve managed to get to a very high level, but my accent is American due to the many films and TV shows I’ve seen. Ever since I’d heard Chase’s accent from House MD, I’ve been longing to learn how to speak the aussie accent. :D It’s pretty hard to do it though if English is only your second langauge.
How to learn to speak with an Australian accent
How I did it: Since a girl from australia moved to my school I have been able to mimic her voice in my head. I started off searching everything about the australian accent on google and youtube. LOOK EVERYWHERE !!!! Any of the australian accent tutorials will help you. 1 thing that helps me learn something is that I need to be determined. I started whispering to myself in Australian to learn it. Not people are asking me where in Australia am I from !
Lessons & tips: If you have determination, then you can do it. It took me about half a year. I started last summer. I sounded really bad. But now I have been doing it locally, thinking before I say it out loud. Another thing is to do the O's like Ohhhh and Owww, making your mouth form a smaller hole as you end the letta. Anotha theeng is thet youh need toh thenk of whea o whet the werds wed soend lyke. Do you understand that?
Also, keep your tounge placed on the top of your mouth and limit your mouth movements.
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE !!!!

Im half Australian and ive picked up the english accent please help me get my australian accent back!
with the right attitude and focus you can learn anything. Like when people say that it’s mind over matter that gets you through the day sometimes. Its that extra push of practice that makes your effort all worthwhile. I really want to learn this accent because I was ashamed that I lost my Staten Island/ New York accent when moving to the suburbs of New Jersey. But that’s a whole new pot of stew to taste, and a story for another time. I think I wanted to learn the Australian accent because I wanted to reinvent myself as a new person and create something that was bigger than me all together. Now that I know nothing is impossible. It’s not the hours you put in, its what you put into the hours that makes your hard work worthwhile…
got no idea about australian accent so i am asking for a help.anyone who can teach me?hope someone can help me..
it takes longer than a week to learn it. I have tons of determination to learn this because it interested me too much !
If you want to just say this out loud:
I went toh the babequ thes weakend
Ah yoh gohing toh tha mohvies ?
Now try saying this aloud w/ ur accent:
I went to the barbeque this weekend
Are you going to the movies ?
They sound similar to me !
NOTE: THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE. THIS MAY OR MAY NOT SOUND AUSTRALIAN !
