Must do more art! 1 month ago

I want to schedule, or develop a habit of doing something artsy once a day, minimum! Art is therapy for me, and I felt so much better when I created art on a regular basis.

After a couple months of feeling completely lost with what to get my husband for his birthday, I finally decided to make an art project. Originally, I wanted to give him something useful and practical (and told him that), but he said that he doesn’t need anything. The project that I am now making won’t be useful, but will at least be memorable. And he definitely appreciates the concept of me working with my hands to make something for him. Now the question is, how will to come out. I will know in couple weeks.

I’d completly forgotten about this goal, well to be honest i’d forgotten about most of my goals and have been concentrating on my uni work, until my birthday that was.
My housemates gave me a whole load of art supplies for my birthday, a sketch pad, charcoals, pastels, acrylics, brushes, pencils etc all for me to mess around with so thats what i’ve been doing.
It’s just the greatest coincidence as i havent drawn anything really since i was 14 (just turned 22) and hadn’t told them that i wanted to start, it’s just as i like doing some crafting they thought i’d quite like to have a play with some art, good idea!

I like art, and i wont deny i’m very good at it, even if i take FOREVER to do it…i just wish i did more at home…everything i’ve ever produced came out of art class. Mind you, they’re very good, but i wish i’d follow through with some of my own ideas..

More like, get into art again!. I use to love Art when i was in primary school and would draw and paint in my spare time alot. However as time went by and i begun college, i got lazy and my hobbies became, dating girls, drinking, smoking, clubbing….. And so on…lol

So now im determined to draw, paint and visit museums in my spare time =).

Artist's Block Lasts This Long? 6 months ago

As a kid I used to draw constantly. Any blank space was open licence to scribble the contents of my mind down for the world to see. Teachers and assorted other adults were always quite sure I’d grow up to be some famous artist or at least earn a wage from it, but that never quite happened.

I’m not overly sure what happened to my muse – perhaps it was having to take an SSRI for an anxiety disorder blocking some imagination synapses from firing, or perhaps I burnt out my creativity while at graphic design college. Perhaps I just got out of the habit due to online games. Or maybe it was just a combination of all these.

Whatever it was, I kind of miss it. I still have the skills lurking around – every now and then I get something down on paper that still looks reasonable. I think the major problem is I lost my inspiration. I’m going to try and get back into the habit and hopefully get my creative juices flowing again. I really hope it’s not gone for good.

I like it, but I’m not very good, which makes me want to do it less. I’m just gonna suck it up and do more art… Maybe I’ll actually get better at it.
