NW Indiana.

I had long thought that NW Indiana’s portion of US 20 wasn’t going to happen for some time, but then I got sent to Lansing for work. I took the opportunity to drive this portion of the highway.
Gary is supposed to be a nasty place, but from what I saw of downtown Gary I’d be willing to take a look during the day. They’ve got a relatively nice looking baseball park right downtown.
Anyway, I’m pleased to have this knocked off of the list.

But I want to do it all at once, MA to OR. I don’t know if I’ll make it. I’m 62. Rental car companies, it seems, don’t like the idea of a car being returned 2452 miles from where it was rented.

In either case, I’ve got the east end of US 20 nailed down. I went from the Red Sox game to Shrewsbury, MA on US 20. It was great. I even got to use my New-England-style road sense. Ayuh, still intact.

I got out of the house and drove for a bit the other day. I managed to get three miles of US 20 added to the book, which is good. These are 3 very tricky-to-get to miles. Yay!

Really, this whole goal started as a joke when I was in college, and I’ve been cobbling away at it ever since.
To date on US 20, I’ve driven: All of Illinois and Pennsylvania. Parts of Iowa, New York, Massachusetts and Ohio.
Maybe I shoud just fly to Portland, rent a car and drive back on 20. What do you think?
