natou is looking forward to see New Moon!!!
In the middle of painting the Snow Queen with watercolors, I slowly began to realize the choice of colors was wrong. Way too colorful for the drama of the Snow Queen… Thinking of switching to blue ink and start it all over. I saw one book where the illustrations were cut out forms from black paper. The results were great, very dramatic and mysterious, just right for this story. One more lesson learned!

Took a break from most of my goals the past several weeks. I think I just needed a rest. Too much going through my head at one time. But I’m back to focusing on them again.
Illustrating is something I think I could definitely do. It’s one of my goals that I feel the most confident about. Some of the others, I’m a little nervous about – such as writing. I love to write, but will other people love my writing? Who knows.
I just want to give myself a shot with as many as my goals as I can. So … back to sketching.

maybe I will get my ass in gear and draw draw draw damn it!! I admit I have no time at the moment with the university almost over and projects due right and left. I’m afraid when projects will be over I will have other excuses to avoid art.
I question my motivation. Could it be I am not taking seriously because I am not paid for it? Then why do people enjoy hobbies? Obviously they simply enjoy it, that’s all. I do enjoy drawing… This is strange, I simply don’t get it, why is it so hard to just do it.

I promised god that if I do one illustration a week he has to stop the bus strike. I should go back to drawing.

Right now I’m working on a portrait of George Washington (yes still on the first book), which I’d rather not be doing since its kinda eh, but at least now if someone wants a portrait of him, I got it down. I’ll be glad when I’m done with practice and can start my own drawings.
Practice feels kind of like dropping a pebble into a bucket of water and waiting for the water to rise. It can feel frustrating at times, but in the long run I know I’ll be capable of a lot more.

I’m still on the first book I bought on drawing portraits. It is becoming very tedious and boring but I’m forcing myself to finish it before I go on to anything else.
I find I get the most done when I’m doing something else at the same time, like watching a movie. Makes it a little easier.
Well, anyway, I’m trying to keep myself disciplined and practice as much as possible. After this I plan to study face dimensions and then maybe go onto drawing buildings or cartoons.

I love to create- drawings, paintings, clothing, just everything! I would love to become financially independent as an illustrator. What a wonderful job to wake up to everyday.

I’m not very good at people beyond stick figures but I’m pretty good at other drawing if given enough time. I wonder if I need to take art classes before I can do this. I think not, because I have a “200 Best Jobs” book that says it only takes on-the-job training, and my brother and sister and a bunch of other people I know are writing books so maybe I can be their illustrators. Can writers choose their illustrators or do the publishers choose them?
I wish I could post my drawing of a dragon on here ‘cause it’s pretty darn good but I don’t have a scanner.

More Portraits
I just finished another portrait several days ago. Sometimes it gets hard to set aside the time to practice, but once I start, I feel the momentum and its easy to keep with it. For now I’ve just been focusing on my basic technique, but eventually when I feel ready, I’ll be at the point where I can be more creative and do what I want.

Haven’t had much time to draw lately – but will put it on my list today.
