write a letter to my grandma

I have been trying to put this thing off for a while. i love my nan but its just the whole writing a letter thing that kinda makes me hesitate. She sent me a birthday card (half in french and half in english) and ive known this for a while but i miss her and i have so much things to tell her… To some pen and paper!

Since my grandma went back to live in Mauritius she has been asking us to write her letters. the problem is she doesnt read english she can read french though so it’s kinda hard because i don’t know how to write in french. but i have to write her a letter before the end of the year. i’ll even make an effort and try to put some of it in french.

... a year after my last visit & – again – not a single letter in between! (I have spoken with her on the telephone since the last visit, but that’s just not the same.)

I have to admit I have done this on and off through out my life. At one point I lived with her and she showed me all the letters I had written her when I was a kid. So when I moved out I started writing her again. She is now 80 years old but lives with my uncle and so they read the letter together since my gran’s eyes are not what they used to be. My grandma appreciates hearing from me and even though at times I have wished that she could just get an email account so that I would not have to go to the post office; it is nice sending mail the old fashioned way. Anyways I highly recommend that anyone with a grandma who cares like mine, should write and do so often. My grandma has supported me in so many ways; a little letter letting her know that I am doing great is no burden.

I’m proud of my letter, she’s going to be so happy. I can’t wait to know her reaction :)

I need to be more focus and write this letter. It’s important, I don’t want to fail.

I haven’t seen my grand mother for 5 years because she lives in Spain and I live in France. I never had any vacation during summer to go and see her in Spain, while my mother and sister did.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to go AGAIN this summer. That’s why I want to write a letter to her. I miss her so much. I used to see her every year for 3 months before I turned 16. It saddens me not to see her, because we’ve got this great complicity. She’s one of the most important person in my life…

Like many of the other people with this goal, I want to create a stronger connection with my grandma while she’s still alive and also I want to revive the ol’ corrospondance tradition. I like the idea of doing it at least 2 times monthly. It doesn’t sound like much but for a busy student, it’s a good start.
