Perfect My Wardrobe 20 months ago

Should Take about $500 and a saavy eye for detail.

My mom called my new jeans ‘like the gays wear’ and my dad with wildean timing interjecting they were ‘gay-ish’. I explained to him that frankly I didn’t care.

Got two new pairs of jeans and a shirt and some plimsolls. Result. That should come out of my money for the work on Peepshow and the tenner from Spies. Going to return the plimsolls and buy cheap ones from Brick Lane. But apart from that, I found a new way to buy clothes. It’s called Topman stylist and it bloody well helps. Oh and if I can flog enough stuff I will buy the Barbour coat from Notting Hill, for sure.

..perfect what? Sounded fun to arrange some few good combinations, but why jot it down escapes me right now.

Clustering 23 months ago

That is great advice I red somewhere: to cluster your clothes e.g. to hang together clothes that go together.

I clustered my autumn clothes and it immediately made sence: it become so obvious what is outdated and what is missing! And it was easy to do. Next day I treated myself with the missing link (a pair of flattering brown trousers). I remebered where are my brown shoes that goes with it. It is so great to purchase an item with purpose in mind!

I repaired some clothes (a jumper, some socks) last evening and I enjoyed it – more than shopping! I think I’ll organise some hand sewing basket with current thing I’m reparing to have it in front of TV.

Now when I look hanging items in my wardrobe (other things are yet to sort) it is so comforting!

For me, perfecting my wardrobe is icing on cake. THAT satisfying. And that was the reason why I postponed it for so long. Not any more! It just took me a while to discover that I actually can enjoy the acing although my cake is still baking! LOL

still need to work on organizing and getting rid of stuff i don’t want. i keep it fairly well edited, but there is more that can go. i also have a pile of stuff that needs to be hemmed or repaired. i’m working on getting this done before i start the new job. also would like to get some new clothing before i start.

but first 2 years ago

i will have to get around to throwing out all the crap that’s been filling it up first!

I threw out all the things I did not like; I made myself some clothes; I rummaged through charity shops to find stylish bargains. “You can wear any random clothes and they will always go together,” say the people with the imperfect wardrobes. Having impeccable taste and insanely brightly coloured socks helps.

Summer wadrobe almost perfected 3 years ago

My friend helped me a lot with this. We started with “I don’t have anything to wear” and wearing the same thing over and over again. We spend whole day, first rejecting out-of-date, non-fitting etc. items. Things that are OK but having some small things to fix are separated.
Then we brought all my wardrobe at the same room to see it all, and made combinations for each remaining item. We were so amused with this process and I ended with rich, perfect wardrobe. We even matched all the scarves. Wow we were so happy after whole day and we did so great job. My friend counted 40 combinations. We agreed to repeat the same with my winter clothes in a couple of months.

I only need 2 pair of shoes in order to be able to wear all clothes (beige and magenta shoes would be nice). I was very excited to see that I am actually slimmer then I thought.

Went on a big clearout the other day and got rid of anything that was broken and I’m CLEARLY not going to fix or anything I just plain didn’t want anymore. The good quality stuff is going on ebay, the ok quality stuff is going down the charity shop and the stuff which barely resembles fabric anymore just got binned.
