publish a book of short stories

I dont know exactly how i got the courage…but finally i’ve published 3 short writings of myself on the net..and i got great responses. i’m satisified.

Reality

I went in,
Many people were in the middle of conversations among themselves.
Occasionally some toasts were raised.

Then suddenly, she entered the room.

Shiny, glamourous, but not artificial at all… with something authentic.

With a very colorful dress and very noticeable shoes,

With a straight forward look,
Moving through people and stopping on no one.

Everybody was amazed when she came in, and gazed at her without taking a small break.

But, it seems like each person got a different impression of her,
Each person had a different facial expression as they looked at her.

Every person saw a different personality

But it seemd as though I was the only person able to see the different views.

And then, she looked at me with a penetrative look.

I looked back,

Our eyes crossed,

I made my way to her, and asked:
Hey, Do we know each other?

And she replied:
It seems you’re having some difficulty remembering.
My name is …. Reality.

The story in hebrew

נכנסתי לחדר ,
הרבה אנשים דיברו בינהם וניהלו שיחות חולין.
בין לבין היו כמה הרמות כוסית.

ופתאום , היא נכנסה לחדר.

נוצצת וזוהרת , אך לא מלאכותית בכלל…עם משהו אוטנטי.

עם שמלה צבעונית במיוחד ונעליים מושכות תשומת לב,

עם מבט שמיושר קדימה אך כאילו עובר דרך האנשים ולא נעצר על אף אחד ,

כולם השתאו כשהיא נכנסה ונעצו מבטים ללא הפסקה..

אך נראה כאילו כל אחד הבין ממנה משהו אחר ,
לכל אחד הייתה הבעה שונה כאשר הוא הביט עליה,
כל אחד ראה אישיות אחרת,

אך נראה כאילו רק אני ראיתי מהצד את ההבנות השונות שנוצרו לכל אחד עליה.

ואז היא הסתכלה עלי במבט נוקב ,

החזרתי לה מבט ,

העיניים שלנו הצטלבו,

נגשתי אליה ושאלתי : שלום…איך קוראים לך ?
והיא ענתה בפשטות : יש לי תחושה שאנחנו מכירים…אבל אני רואה שקצת קשה לך לזכור…
קוראים לי…מציאות.

It’s going well. I’ve sent the full manuscript to an agent who called and gave me a very kind phone rejection and it’s been requested by and sent to two more. Have another request for a partial manuscript. It’s really exciting to get any interest at all from big agents who have had a lot of success with literary fiction collections. Now all I need is one to call and say they want to represent me :)

...and trying to find a home. I finished up the collection (final word count: 52,500), edited it even more, and am now querying literary agents about it. Wish me luck!

If that doesn’t work out, there are a number of university presses that sponsor contests for short fiction collections where they publish the winner. At any rate, I can say I’ve written a book, and that’s a pretty terrific feeling.

something I want to do over a long period of life

I have a lot of stories written, almost 50,000 words worth, and now five of them have been published or will be. Feels great. So a goal for this summer is to get the manuscript of the story collection together and in finished shape so I can start researching how marketable story collections are, what agents handle them, etc.
