Last week... 3 months ago

There was this weird storm that rolled in, and by weird I mean, the sky had a yellow-ish hue, no rain yet, the clouds were very low, dark, rotating, and moving fast. Tornadoe weather to be exact. Unfortunately no tornadoe formed. Or should I say, FORTUNATELY, hahaha, shit, it wouldn’t have been fun if a tornadoe had formed right near my house :/

Last week I was roadtripping through the Oregon coast. One day, while stopped at a lighthouse, a man in a Hybrid pointed out three water spouts out on the horizon. Sure enough, I could see three distinct funnels, though they weren’t touching the water anymore. So technically, I have seen a tornado… but I’m still holding out for one of the big, land-based, rip your roof off tornados.

I’ve just always wanted to see a tornado live. That’s it. I will.

my friend apparently saw one last week and I couldn’t believe how jealous I was! he made it seem like a near death experience and I was jealous! However, his tornado was actually a water spout on the lake but it just made me realize how badly I want to achieve this goal and how crazy it is that I want to!

I have always been fascinated since i was a child by tornados and hurricanes etc and when i was in primary school the teacher went around in a circle asking us all what we wanted to be when we were older and it went something like ‘Doctor, Nurse, Fireman…then it was my turn…Boss of a Tornado Centre!!!’hahaha
Unfortuantely i live in the UK where it’s not so easy to do a bit of chasing but i always have it as one of my goals to see one before i die :)

almost! 15 months ago

Well, I almost accomplished this goal on monday. I knew bad storms were on their way but I wasn’t really paying much attention to it since it seems like the weather man has been wrong frequently lately. So my mom and I were eating dinner when the tornado sirens started going off. It didn’t look that bad outside yet so I knew I had some time to go gather blankets and other things and go put them in the basement. After I did the the sky started growing darker and darker and then all the emergency warnings on the t.v started. I stood on my front porch and watched the clouds come barreling in. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such bizarr clouds in my entire life. They were almost a red color but when the lightning flashed they turned to an eerie aqua green color. I knew green skies were a bad sign and I had never seen that before. Then it seemed like all hell broke loose and we could hear roaring in the distance. By that time I knew it was time to quit watching and get in the basement. Luckily for us we just missed the worst of it. In fact, our neighborhood was one of the only ones to not have any branches down and we never even lost power. The next day the national weather service confirmed touch down tornados in several of the towns right around us. Amazingly we were right in the middle of it all and nothing happened to our neighborhood. I still haven’t seen a tornado but I finally got to see the green sky and a huge wall cloud. Even without the tornado itself it was still pretty scarey.

I’ve lived through a few touchdowns. One of the most awe-inspiring natural events you will ever see in your life.

I was about 12 16 months ago

I saw one on a hwy near Clearmore, Ok. It wasn’t that big, but I knew what I was looking at. I was only about 12 years old. We knew that there were storms out, and we were just trying to make our way back home.
