I have been thinking about this for about a month and looking at lots of ways to accomplish this. I have spoken with a PA who advised me to look into hemo-tech as a starting point. I have but right now I am leaning towards EMT with/phlebotomy instead. takes less time. I will try to get into the P.A. program at UW. I think I will get in in about 3 years fingers crossed :).

I have applied to the Air Force Physician Assistant program. I have to wait until April to find out if I am accepted.
Digitelle is unmoored in a sea of potential is studying
I am a lowly EMT with a degree in Film and Television. I have to start all over with science and math core. I did some reasearch on postbacc and came up with this website http://services.aamc.org/postbac/ I picked my school based on $$$ and location. I was torn between PSU and Hunter because I really want to move to Oregon already. But I have residency in NYC and my NY state EMT license so I can work here. I will have to move after I get accepted to PA school.
I am going for an MPA so I will be ‘Digitelle MPA’ how does that sound!
I am going to apply to schools all over the west coast but OHSU is my top choice. Here is the link for PA schools in the US http://www.aapa.org/pgmlist.php3 not all are MPA programs so pay attention to what you apply to.
I start Chem and Stats in the fall
YAY!
.... I have done everything I needed to do as far as pre-reqs ect… my biggest problem is fiding a PA in a city as large as NYC to shadow!...I have shadowed 2 MD and volunteer in a pediatric clinic for 6 months ( 1/wk)... YET I have spent 3 months searching for PA to shadow. Some of the PAs were so mean and evil, it made me not want to be a PA at all!!!.. then I start to see it as motivation to become a PA and one day help Pre-PA students that are in my situation. if anyone can help please let me know.. you can IM me twistedbalistics@yahoo.com I am a member of 2 Pre-PA organizations and none of them seems to be able to help!
I am signed up for the program. Hopefully, after a clinical day or two I can get an ER Tech job at one of the hospitals. If that happens it will go a long way towards helping me be a good candidate for PA school. I just have to take ChemII and organic. Might take genetics and physics, too.
Got my last few shots and the TB skin test today. Monday I try to sign up for the EMT program. I get there in time and I am on my way.
I have been working on prerequisite coursework for the last year. I have taken anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chem I and I am taking college algebra right now. Still have to take chem II and organic chem. If I have time I might see if I can take an pathophysiology, too, though it is not required. Also, I want to take an EMT-B course in the fall. We shall see how it all goes.
