And the count is...47?! 12 months ago
I’m on a roll this week, I think it’s my frequent visits to thrift stores this past week for some reason I can’t explain but I won’t complain about it. I picked up
    • Joe Cocker: MAd Dogs & Englishmen
    • Chubby Checker: Limbo Party
    • Folk Songs with Harry Belafonte and Calypso with The Islanders
    • The Dean Franconi Strings play The Nat King Cole Songbook
    • Glenn Miller’s Original Recordings
    • Perry Como And I love you So
    • The Best of Jackie Gleason

    How Many? 12 months ago

I was thinking about my record collection, and this goal. It’s much like the goal I have to write more poetry. Just like the Write More Poetry goal it’s hard to determine whether or not when exactly you complete this goal…I mean How Many records does it take to expand your collection?!
When I started this goal I only had like 15 records all together and now I’ve doubled that number to a whopping 40 records; I do intend on expanding it to an outrageous number but how long will this goal be on my list? How many years will it take to reach an undetermined amount of records?
I have expanded my collection so far and I think I should be proud of my self to gather 40 albums withing like 6 months because even though you can find them at thrift stores and yard sales and some music stores; you all know as well as I do that not everyplace has the ideal records you want. I don’t want country music, or classical records even though I’m very diverse with music, I just want some Big Band, Swing, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Folk Rock, Classic Rock etc. kinds of records. I’ll listen to them more.
This whole rant is because I’m going to try to reach…oh 100 records? Before I take this “To Do” or “Goal” or whatever you want to call it off my 43things list.

I have I think 10 33’s and 5 45’s and I also have a turntable to play them on. I just want some more because I like the whole time warp feeling I get when I sit there listening to records.

When the music hits I feel no pain at all 2 years ago

I finally got a record player for Christmas! I scored a lot of records at my local Salvation Army for $1 each. And overall they are in decent condition. Billy Joel “The Stranger”, Carly Simon “Hotcakes”, Donna Summers’s Greatest Hits, Elvis Costello & The Attractions “Armed Forces”...haha I love it! It’s all music I would probably not normally download onto my iPod and stuff. But my brothers and I had the best dance-athon to Donna Summers tonight. I also got The Velvet Underground “Andy Warhol” brand new (that was like $13 though). Then The Rolling Stones “Hot Rocks” and “Sticky Fingers” for about $5 together. I can’t wait to get back to Manhattan and keep looking for records. I really like Rockit Scientist Records and Sounds, both in St. Mark’s Place if anyone is in the area they have a lot of stuffff.

    Untitled 3 years ago

My Doors record is being played out lately! I need new records, I would hate to get sick of this one.

    Bazaar! 3 years ago

At a local bazaar I scored TWO perfect jimi hendrix records for only four bucks and a perfect condition Doors ‘Strange Days’ for two bucks.

    ooooh I love vinyl. mmm

    no cash 3 years ago

The only reason I don’t have a ridiculously large, detailed, extensive record collection is because of my financial restrictions. I got no cash HOMEY! I only have FOUR records as of right now…Dead Kennedys, Monster Squad, GG Allin, and MUSIC TO EAT PIZZA BY…yeah. The amazing sound of 23 accordions playing the top italian pizza-themed hits of the sixties…Wow.
