• make arrangements for Mom’s body to be cremated
• notify relatives that she has passed away
• find some boxes to pack up her stuff from the nursing home – I know other families are waiting, as eager as we were to move a loved one in
• go through her papers, find her will, etc. and contact lawyer

It’s amazing how much there is to do when someone dies. When Dad passed away, all the arrangements helped me feel busy, like I had something to do. This time, I don’t feel like doing any of it.

Already wasted half the day lazing in bed but hey! I’ve got as throat infrection or something.

bit of a late night. surprising evening swim on the badeschiff which was ace, then alien halloumi-fingers and a smoky pub, which weren’t. now the sun has remembered how to shine and i’m still working away half-heartedly at this translation…

Hooray! Hooray! A long weekend starts today! And today is also the day that we will be attending the much-anticipated sheepdog trials!

• ACC and G are coming round for dinner and we’re going to drink some Slovenian wines G brought back from his trip there a few months ago, should be interesting! Maybe I can also offer them some of that pinnacle of excellence in beverages known as black crowberry wine, but am tempted to save that for 19th Sept _arrrr

Working all day today but the weather so far is looking extremely promising. Hopefully today will be fun and successful!

Okay, so Friday went a bit astray, but with good results – I hope! I’ve set myself a weekend challenge, plus pre-organised visits, so that should form my ‘core’ tasks for the next few days.

• fold towels from tumbledrier : my ‘lekky bill is going to be huge, but loving that drier right now!

• get up a bit earlier : oops! I seem to be defaulting to just before nine – need to get out of that quick!
• do something before visitor arrival!

It’s the last day (working day—weekends don’t count) of vacation so I had better make the most of it:

• write something (does 43t count? I’m probably asking the wrong crowd :-)
• play some music—DW is setting up lessons next week
• clean up odds and ends (bills, etc)
• prep dinner
