I’m new jersey and an accountant. I was here in 2003 – 2004 and from 08/2008 – 01/2010. They think this place is just the greatest. It cracks me up. Slipping in the ranks every day. They will look over should just to make sure your not getting ahead of them if your from somewhere else. Don’t buy the hype. Unless your from a state where not much going on you will wake up and go. What am I doing here ? Unless yopu are from CO or CA or a transient in your 20’s, a homeless guy, or illegal stay home and don’t waste your time unless you want to do day labor or work fast food.

How I did it: After a lot of prayer and asking God if this is really where He wanted me and my family to be and getting the same answer, I decided to follow it and made the plans for the move. This is a great place with a lot of things to do and places to go. I'm loving it :) Read how I did it…
How I did it: First we spent months researching the area in Colorado that would be best for us, checking population demographics, employment statistics and geography. After that it was a matter of saving up enough money, finding the best means for moving all of our belongings and our cats and reptiles, then actually making the move.We did this is two stages, my wife moved first and stayed with a friend that we had known for a long time while she went t… Read how I did it…
How I did it: busted ass and closed my eyes. You have to be willing to leave family and friends :( Its nice that we live in the age of cell phones and computers. traveling back home is expensive and hard to do. I make it home 2-3 times per year for usually a week or two. Read how I did it…

angelmom1165 is feeling a bit down because I don't feel good and am tired.
My husband and I live in Texas. We have four children ages from 22 down to 8. We have had the desire to move to Colorado for the past 6 years and counting. My husband fell in love with Colorado as a youth when his family used to make road trips. He finally took me to Colorado almost 7 years ago and we just started praying about moving there. So many things have gotten in the way of that dream but we aren’t getting any younger so I am really praying it will be very soon.
My husband works as a shift supervisor for the print division of Staples. He has been in the printing industry for over 24 years. The reason we haven’t moved yet is because he hasn’t found a job. Since we have four kids it takes a larger income to make it on. We purchased land in the small town of Westcliffe but it is going to take some time to pay it off and build on it. We are looking for work in the Coloraod Springs area or around there.
Trying to find the open doors and willing to take the changes needed to walk through them.
We desperately want to leave Texas. We can’t stand the heat or the money-driven vibe that permeates everything around us. But can we sell our home? Will we be able to find a home we can afford? What about all of our pets? (How do you move 2 parrots, 4 dogs, a cat, 2 rats, a bunny, a beardie, and 14 tarantulas?) Will my husband be able to find work?
At our ages (36 and 40), these questions keep us stagnant; living in a place we despise.
Only 10 days left until I pack up my car and leave the Midwest! I went out last week and came home with 3 job offers :). My wonderful boyfriend is already out there and I can’t wait to go and start life. We have an apartment in the Highlands Ranch area right now, but will probably move up north sometime soon. He used to live in Ft. Collins and really wants to move back. We’ll see where life takes us!
My husband and I have always dreamed of living in Colorado. We are approaching our mid 50’s. Better later than never. He is a Carpenter/Painter in skilled Labor with many years experience and a stellar work record. I am a professional musician. A fiddle player and teacher with a violin performance degree and now teaching 35 people of all ages weekly, fiddle, guitar and mandolin. I play in Bluegrass Band and a Western Swing Band. I have been teaching for 7 years and have excellent references. I am a former Kansas Fiddle Champion.
We want to live in the Fort Collins area of Colorado. If there is any help or advice you can give us please feel free to contact me at dianegillenwater@sbcglobal.net. We are open to most transition ideas or pointers.
officially moving as of the 28th of July. I have my brother’s wedding to go to and that will be the 25th but the following week, i’m moving. I can’t wait and even though I don’t have a job yet, I will move anyway. It’s scary but, I know it needs to be done :)
youarehere is trying not to get buried in the snow
I moved to Colorado to be with my then boyfriend/now husband. I had been living in South Africa, finishing university, but left it all to move out here.
It is truly beautiful, I am still amazed at the things nature comes up with every day. We have taken the most amazing hikes in the summer, long warm evenings outside our house sitting in the hammock drinking wine, stars like you’ve never seen.
But
It is hard to make a living here. We live and work in an ultra rich community where material wealth takes priority over all other things. I work all day all week so that we can barely make it.
I feel trapped in between the mountains, where is the freedom that I was supposed to have?
This is not where I want to be.
With the way the economy is right now, it seems better to hold on to any job you can get, but how long before I lose all my energy? I think my journey here has come to an end, it’s time to move on.
I just wonder what will happen to the cat?
Ever since I lived in Colorado Springs for 3 years as a kid, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of going back. It eats away at me almost every day without fail, and its honestly something you can’t explain unless a person shares a similar desire. I don’t know why God has placed this desire on my heart for the past 11 years since my family moved away, but all I want to do is move back.
I was 7 when I moved away in June of 1998, and am currently 18 and a second semester freshmen at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, TN, just east of Nashville. I am trying to line up an accounting internship with Vail Resorts at Keystone, and have been in contact with them but can’t actually apply for the actual internship until July. If all goes well, I am going to be a junior by this December when the internship begins and make the move then, and after the internship go to the Boulder/Longmont area and work for a year and then finish up school at University of Colorado, Boulder.
The weather is great, the landscape is gorgeous. Colorado is the place that I’m going for the next part of my life. I don’t really know how long I’ll stay, but I don’t plan on moving again for at least two years after I get there.
My wife and I can’t wait to got back up into the mountains. To wake up every morning and see the sun, to see it sink past the Rockies at dusk. The night life is calling, I can still here the music back at the clubs. The Great outdoors are sprawling and our adventurous spirits are drawn there.
I’m 20 and will be moving to Colorado soon, hopefully! I’m in college but I want to move there after graduation.
