Shoji Screen Making!!! 17 months ago

This is SUCH a fun project. The materials are somewhat inexpensive. All I used was:

screen frames from home depot or lowes
rice paper
black paint
skinny bamboo and thicker bamboo (both MUST be completely hollow)

Take the screen part out of the door.
Drill 3 holes going across the top and bottom and 6 holes going across the sides.
Paint the door frame cream-colored (or whatever color you choose).
Cut and bend the bamboo so they fit into their respective holes (thicker from top to bottom, thinner from side to side).
Paint the rice paper and cut it to a little over the size of the door.
Use a staple gun or masking tape to attach the rice paper to the back of the frame.
Ask a Home Depot or Lowes employee how to put these doors onto a track so that they slide.

I will FINALLY finish reupholstering my sofa. WHICH WILL BE FINALLY FINISHING ONE OF MY IMPULSIVE PROJECTS THAT I HAVE NO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE DOING! I will give myself one week-March 26,2007. to finish the project I began NOW I’m checking all sources before buying materials and beginning to work on my future SLIDING SHOJI WINDOW SCREEN. I will finish my reupholstering project while I research how to build and install the shoji screen. It will turn out impeccably due to having a well researched and thought out plan. ALTHOUGH, I do feel that pull of a new idea and the desire to begin to work on a new project. Wish me luck.
