A possible scenario would be for me to move to Canada. I appreciate living here in the City, but as I grow older, I don’t want to have to worry so much. The quality of safety, healthcare and education is vastly better there than it is here. I don’t care about being rich… I just wanna be happy and have the simply pleasures of doing what I enjoy, possibly building a massage practice there someday. I’m quite serious about this
How to live in Canada
How I did it: Well you see, I was born a Canadian, so living in Canada came easily for me. However, my mother immigrated from Zimbabwe, so I've learned some of the hardships of leaving "home". As a Canadian you take your heritage very seriously, so my mother's African roots and my father's Scottish/Irish/English roots are a key element to my existance as a Canadian.
Lessons & tips: If you are young and moving here for adventure, be aware that different parts of the country offer vastly different environments.
Resources: Life experience :)

...apply for a visa. Currently in the process. Hope to be in Vancouver in November this year. I’ve established a connection with a company about the position I want and it looks positive. Made a heap of Canadian friends in Japan and I really want to visit them all.

I want to return to the place where I was born, as if it were never even a question. It is half of me. I don’t know how long we would stay, but I need it to be part of my life, even if only for a year or two.
I want this secretly because it is a stretch. If I were just me, I would line up a job, pack up and just go. It would be my adventure and I’d only have myself to worry about.
When you have a partner, you share everything, including the risks you take. I know my otherhalf is very concerned about financial security. All his trades and qualifications have set him up for a career based outdoors, so he does not see how he could secure the permanent work he’s skilled in where it rains something like nine months of the year (Vancouver, you know who you are…).
And then I guess there’s the whole climate adjustment on top. I’d be happy if a ‘hot’ summer day or ‘heat wave’ means days of 25C instead of 45C, but that’s me.
Anyway, I could work on this. In three to four years we should be in a position to make a move. I’ll believe that when I see it, but I can work on this angle… one can try :)

I want to make the process as painless as humanly possible. It’s going to be a huge deal for me. I’ve lived out of home before but never on my own, let alone in a country where I know no one.
Perhaps I should join one of those online dating/meeting people sites in Canada? See if I can make some online friends before I go over there? I would at least like to talk to some locals/ask a thousand questions.
Does anyone know of any not so sleazy Canadian social dating sorts of sites? Something similar to RSVP here?
