got it down

I think I can safely say that I’ve gotten the hang of it. Pouring water in one side of my nose and out the other still feels a bit odd when its going on but the end result of feeling and staying clear is more than worth it. Besides I’m sure that I’ll get used to it in time.

I just tried out the Neti Pot for the first time with fairly good results for the first time. It felt weird and I only went with a partial pitcher full on each side and my shirt picked up a bit of moisture in the process. Still I must say after blowing the water out of my nose I was surprised by how clear I felt afterward even though I did not feel congested before I started.

Dude, it feels totally weird at first. But I’ve only done it twice (once last night before diner, then once again this morning before breakfast) and I’m already feeling a difference. I’m still trying to find the right temperature for the water, I think I’m keeping it to cool. Once I’ve been doing it for a few weeks I’ll come back and post a more extended report.

I was first introduced to a Neti Pot via the wonderful HBO series Six Feet Under. James Cromwell played a rather quirky character for while, one of the “odd” things he did was use a Neti Pot. It perked my interest, then years later as I’ve become more health conscious and tired of nasal congestion I decided to look into the topic again (there was also a blurb in boing boing a month or so back). Wikipedia has a great article on Jala neti, which lead me to some more links and ultimately to purchasing this set. I should be receiving the package in a week or two and look forward to trying it out, I’ll report back once I have.
