SummitPete working on Life List item #1.
One of my life goals is to get a patent. This seems to be the epitome of creativity and invention.
How I did it: Technical knowledge, Imaginitive and creative mind, help of friends and lot of hard work. These are the few things that helped me to achieve what I never ever imagined. The best suggestion, I could give is that try to associate yourself with the day to day problems.Believe me, they are plenty, and try to find a solution for the same.If it is not a niche idea, atleast an improvement on the existing idea would help. Read how I did it…

deepakjnath Looking for a new Challenge
I did my masters thesis on the stuff i was working on. It turns out that no one has done it before. So i filed for a patent in the company. The company legal department gave the application to a commitee of Principle engineers who looked and approved for filing. The companies legal department then took it forward and filed it. It took 1.5 years for this procedure. Now the patent has to be granted and this will take another 1.5 years.
It feels good.
Patent has been approved, and Iam on my way to get my first patent on Messaging.
I know 2 people personally who have gone through this process and at least have them as a preliminary resource for information such as: OK, how much money are we talking here? And timeline? What should I attempt to self-prepare before going to see the appropriate attorney(s)?
I have a book arriving this week that was rated 5 stars by Amazon readers that also goes into detail regarding the whole process…
But I think it is going to be good to talk to my cousin-in-law, and my electrician friend…
I’m not going to work on this as a specific goal anytime soon. I will review this goal in 6 months, and see if any incidental progress has been made, or if I want to concentrate on it more at that time.
Once personally, and once through my company. Spent a pretty large number of hours in the Patent Office in DC, back when I lived in Maryland. I have so many things I could patent, it’s just a matter of setting down and doing it. And of course the $$$.
This is always on a back burner, but I’ll see about turning up the heat pretty soon (after completing my Book)
uschica is cleaning up my favorites list and stumbled on this site.
did a search today that looked promising. I also thought of another idea. I’m hopeful.
During my sleepless nights I come up with what seem to be fantastic ideas. One was a fabulous new kind of tweezer, the likes of which I’d never seen… however when I searched on tweezers the next day I realized that pretty much every kind of tweezer imaginable already exists. Who the heck thinks that stuff up?
BUT…I have some baby-related inventions… just need to write up some specs and figure out the mumblety-gook instructions on the U.S. patent site…
