I live in northern Virginia, about 30 minutes outside of D.C. but I still have always wanted to live there. Its such a great city. I just want to go far away for college…chicago…:D
How to live in Washington DC
How I did it: I moved to DC to work for a non-profit green building company, and [also] ended up working for an independent coffee shop. I moved from Philadelphia via Portland, and was severely disappointed with the lame "funkless" DC town. There is no heart in the town because everyone who moves there does so with the intention to further their career. It's like people can't be genuine and therefore judge others very quickly...
Lessons & tips: I suggest seeing as many of the 43 free smithsonian museums as you can, visiting the botanic gardens, and moving the f**k away from that city.

...like most areas of the country, although the Post said that DC had been less vulnerable and actually posted 6 straight years of job creation. :/ I still want to go though.
minus that creepy, depressing feeling I always get when I’m there! :D
Seriously through, I love D.C. It’s my dream city, and I really want to live there when I’m older. Maybe I’ll even get into Georgetown.
I graduate in May, and I would love to move as soon as possible. But I have to save up some money first. It’s difficult on a college budget, but maybe I can have enough to finance a uhaul!
I want to go, but the economy isn’t so great. I already have a friend out there who has a Master’s degree (and she has some work experience under her belt) and she’s still looking for full-time work…
I’m starting to ask friends who live there what they’d suggest in order to prepare for moving, joining blogs/groups that are dedicated to people who live in the area, looking at their public transportation, etc. Unlike moving off to college, I want to be at least somewhat familiar with the place.
This looks like more and more of a possibility. Although I haven’t gone abroad, if I want to get into political science-y type things, this is the place to go.
I live alone in a closet-sized basement with mosquitoes.
It is awesome.
I went on a trip to Dc and I loved it there. Can anyone give me some universities there and where the best deli sandwitches are?
Cost of:
Food?
Rent 4 apartment?
College?
Gas per week?
Best Places 2?:
Live?
Eat? [deli sandwitches]

“This is more of a survey than a help question: Do those of you who live in DC feel surrounded by politics and government all the time? Or is it only like that if you happen to have a job in those fields/choose to immerse yourself in it?”
