I have an interview 20 months ago

on Sunday for a second job. I’m patently pessimistic about these things (though I put a good face on), but with this one I AM optimistic. The woman who offered me the job is the same person who will interview me. I see it as a no-fail.

With more working hours per week, my income will increase significantly.

Half of my money after bills will go towards loan/debt payments, the other half towards my savings account.

    I can’t wait.

I used to think 2 years ago

that I couldn’t really have any money “saved” until I paid off my debts. Then I’d be “in the black” and it would be time to put the surplus money somewhere.

But I just realized how important it is to have money in savings for emergencies (losing a job, medical emergency, etc.)

So instead of waiting until my debts are paid off (which will be years from now due to student loans – and if I go back to school it will take even longer…), I should start adding money to my savings account.

    I don’t know why this didn’t dawn on me earlier… :P

    I like 2 years ago

being able to walk to work. :) No bus pass, no fumbling for change. Just another little way to save money.

This is not so easy to do when you move into a 1BR apartment and you realize that you don’t own a couch, or a toaster, or a vacuum, or a microwave, or…...

    Wow! 2 years ago

This new job is a really good thing for my bank account. I did some calculations for what I will have remaining in my checking account after my 1st-o-the-month bills are paid.

It suffices to say it made me very happy.

The extra money I make this summer will be used for A) a trip back home to see my friend marry and B) paying my credit card.

I won’t get my whole credit card balance paid by the end of the summer, but I will make a sizable dent.

    As some say: Woot.

I have an insane 2 years ago

vet bill to pay off this month. After that, I plan to be tucking a lot more away into savings than I used to. I have to save up for when I go back to get a graduate degree.

I like making more money. Who would have thought? :)

Now that I have a new job 2 years ago

I need to rewrite my budget.

I've already started this... 2 years ago

I set up about 5 accounts with different nicknames. I have:
    *vacation fund
    *emergency fund
    *car fund
    *mortgage savings
    *Christmas club
I want to set up a pet fund too for things like vet visits. My kids have college savings funds I put money in each month and I also have a retirement fund.

I would love to just eliminate credit cards all together. We only have one now but I hate it. Though we are earning some kind of reward. I have to look into that.

    I think I need a clothing fund and a redecorating fund too…
