Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

I offered to sit and watch the door for 20 minutes upstairs at the sports hall for the jujutsu class. Not sure why the club has to use the other entrance now, but it’s extremely inconvenient for people to wait outside the door to be let in. I just heard something about fires set in the building by young vandals. A very easy job for me and an easy way for me to help out. 4 years ago

It may be small but I put a shopping cart back in the rack in the parking lot that someone left in a parking space. Kind of cleaning up after someone else. 4 years ago

I did a couple of favors for my son who organized the workshop. First, I bought pizzas for him and delivered them to the classroom on time. Second, I took photos for him and printed one out immediately for him to give the teacher who helped him. 4 years ago

lobDay 21

I did a favor for my teenage son today and one for my oldest son. 4 years ago

lobDay 20

First I drove my oldest son to the scout course at 6 am, which is way too early for me to be driving people around. Later, I spent over an hour trying to do a favor for him and pick up a paper he wanted from a teacher, but I wasn’t successful. Not for lack of trying. 4 years ago

lobDay 19

I took time to coach another TM member for his next speech. It feels good to mentor someone else. 4 years ago

lobDay 18

This morning I drove the neighbor boy to town to
1. help him register to vote
2. help him apply for a job as a poll worker for the special election on 5/18

I was successful with both errands! Lots of little steps to help him feel like an adult. 4 years ago

lobDay 14

Not only did I serve as a ticker taker for the ballet at noon, but I also gave a friend and her son a ride to their home afterwards. Plus this evening, I’m serving as an usher again. 4 years ago

It was definitely a good turn to take the youth group to play games with the elderly. I even took our neighbor boy, too. Plus, I bought refreshments and treated everyone there. 4 years ago

lobDay 12

I drove the neighbor boy (and my teenage son for company for him) to a job fair in town.

Plus, I called my mother to tell her my son is in the newspaper today. I tried to be nice to her, but she was just as mean as usual (and more forgetful than ever when it took her 3-4 minutes to figure out who I am, although I am her only daughter and have an unusual name). 4 years ago

lobDay 11

I drove my son and the neighbor boy to another workshop about job searching. This is mainly to help the neighbor boy who is now 18, graduated from high school, sits at home with nothing to do and has few skills to find work. 4 years ago
