Door progress
I’ve painted the cupboard door – it’s not too bad, although there are a couple of bits that I’ll touch up. It’s currently waiting to be completely dry before I put the hinges and handles back on. I’ve also painted one side of the bedroom door and am going to leave that overnight before I turn it over to do the other side. And I’ve finished off the filling of the door frames.
The list:

- Fill gaps in coving
- Paint ceiling (3 coats)
- Paint walls (2 white & 2 colour coats)
- Paint coving (3 coats)
- Paint skirting (undercoat & 2 coats)

I’ve done the last bit of the coving and skirting. I’ve started painting the boiler cupboard door, which isn’t part of the bedroom project, but I want to do it while I have a room with no carpet down, and I want to practise on a less ‘important’ door before I paint the bedroom door. This one won’t be used very often and has one side that will very rarely be seen – I’ve started there.
The list:
- Seal walls
- Fill gaps in coving
- Paint ceiling (3 coats)
- Paint walls (2 white & 2 colour coats)
- Paint coving (3 coats)
- Paint skirting (undercoat & 2 coats)

I need to add another entry to the list:
Touch up the bits where I coloured outside the lines.

I figured out something since my last entry: doing just a little bit of something is still progress. So I started by putting a first coat on the skirting on just one wall, and now all the skirting has its first coat and half the room has the second coat too. The light has also been fitted.

- Paint ceiling (3 coats)
- Paint walls (2 white coats)
- Paint walls (2 colour coats)
- Paint feature wall (2 colour coats)

I’ve had a bit of a lazy weekend. The following got done:
Doorframe was filled, but still needs more doing when the door comes back off the be painted.
Power & light sockets fitted onto now dry walls. The back box of one broke, so it was dug out and replaced and the plaster patched up. It should be dry enough by tonight to paint.
Most of the coving was given its third coat of paint. The feature wall’s coving was left because there was too much crap in front of the wall and I was being too lazy to move it.
That sounds like quite a lot, but it’s over 3 days and between two of us.
The list hasn’t changed.

Closing door
Yesterday we fitted the door furniture to the bedroom door. We now have a door that stays shut. Yay.
We also went to Ikea to investigate their wardrobe selection. I prefer their price to B&Q, but I like the B&Q colours better. Anyone know where else I can buy wardrobes, bridging units and bedside cabinets?

No change to the list from yesterday. But we did spend hours fitting a door handle and catch, just not to the bedroom door. At least now we know what we’re doing and hopefully doing the same to the bedroom door should go smoothly (and with luck quicker too).
We’ve also started seriously looking around at furniture: we looked in B&Q yesterday and are going to Ikea soon, possibly today.
