This must be changed!
I’ve been to the museum at the track once, but never to the race.
I feel somewhat incomplete as a Hoosier given this circumstance.
Personally, I don’t think you can truly call yourself a Hoosier until you’ve:
-seen the Indy 500 race in person;
-attended an Indiana Hoosiers basketball game in person (thankfully, I’ve done that at least a handful of times); and
-experienced John Mellencamp live (New Year’s Eve 2000 at Conseco!).
So, two down, one to go. This could be the year!

Megynn is the sun and the moon and the stars all in one.
I’ve been a couple times, and it is a lot of fun. Personally, I have more fun people watching than race watching during the race, but there are definitely great parts. Other than the last couple of laps, I would say that pole day is more exciting, overall.
Just remember to wear your sunscreen.

If you’re a fan of auto racing, you should get to the Indy 500 once in your life. I personally don’t see anything in going more than that, but some go every year… It’s a great event, but essentially the some the few times I’ve gone.

I’ve lived in Indiana my whole life. Infact I only live about 35 miles north of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I’ve been there for pole day and just for fun throughout the year but I’ve NEVER been to the Indy 500 race.
I just want to go to one race before I die.
