Not bad - but lazy and uninspired 12 months ago

With 2 young daughters in the house I find healthy food very important. Before being a mum, my microwave was my best friend and i bought tons of heath me up in 2 minutes meals. Now I am not too bad – I simply do not buy anything pre-made and make sure i have a nice selection of fruits & vedgies in my shopping trolley each week. However my cooking isn`t that great either, a jacket potato and salade, spagetiie bowl and other very basic dishes. When i see all those lovely dishes on TV it makes me want to learn and expand beyond my basics. So yesterday I ordered 2 cookbooks and I am going to make 1 dish each week. It scares me a little but i have to start somewhere.

I really want to learn how to cook healthy food…and how to prepare healthy meals. I want to learn how many calories I’m supposed to have each day, and what foods have what calories…and the significance of saturated/unsaturated fats, sodium, carbs, etc….because right now it’s all Greek to me! I don’t understand hardly any of it. I want to learn what foods are good for my body and my health and what dietary benefits come from what combinations of food, and how to make that food yummy for not only myself but for others!
