It took weeks of thinking over choice selection, but I finally bought some!
This past week I bought mascara, eye shadow, make up remover, and tinted lip balm. So far, I really don’t like the mascara (not that it matters, but I learned mascara smells bad). I suppose I’m so use to seeing myself without make up, I really don’t care for what I look like with it on (or more, I don’t look as “amazing” as I think I should with it on considering how much it cost).
Sill, it’s fun experimenting with it. However, I don’t see myself wearing make up on a regular basis. Definitely too much trouble for me.
I could count this as completed, however, I want to wait until I get my own blush. I hesitated when I last went because I was overwhelmed, again, by the selection, especially when I wasn’t sure what shade of pink would work best for my skin.
The artist in me is making this a more complicated goal than it really should be.

Whenever I do some errands before work, I find myself in the make up section, tempted to buy something. Today, I was so determined to get mascara, eye shadow, blush and such….but then things got too complicated for me when I found out that waterproof mascara required make up remover I had to buy, aaaand at that point, I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to spend that much on make up just yet.
However, I have another chance tomorrow. I think I might just go for it, even if it is a little pricey. I do want to try dressing up a little fore myself sometime.

Harijan Romantic Self-Knowing Believer
YAY!!!! and so, what i did was got a heap of samples. a good mix of things i could use for my face and a good mix for eye shadow… but, cosidering my husband won’t be home for a while, i went a little crazy. and i decided to put all of them on my face. at the same time. it turned into a mucky face disaster. it was fun… but i got so carried away, i found my darkest lipstick ever and caked on the eye goo and darkened my eye brows and suddenly i didn’t look like me anymore. hahahahah!
i took pictures, but it actually looks better in the picture because it didn’t really pick up all the colors on my face. it does no justice to the actual masterpiece that is currently on my face right now… which i plan to scrub off in a few minutes, i just had to post this for memory’s sake. you can still kinda tell that the skin on my face doesn’t really match the skin on my chest, which is my natural color (although a little washed out from the lighting and of course my face is slightly more tan than that of my chest)
tonight i will sleep with the valana minerals and see within the next couple of days if it makes me break out. if not, i think i found a win! when i was applying it, seriously, i liked how it kind of went on like a liquid, but its a powder! didn’t make me look ashy or anything and cover my acne very well with just a few strokes. okay… i must get all this stuff of my face, though. the goop around my eyes is bothering me the most!
this is what happens when you give me some free time.

i bought covergirl for the first time. i like having a liquid foundation instead of a powder, but it still comes out kinda flat… minus the chalky look that came from the bareminerals. so, what i’ve been doing is mixing the bareminerals foundation with the covergirl liquid foundation to reduce flatness and get that chalkiness off of my forehead and cheeks and nose. that sorta adds to the problem though… i don’t want to have to buy bareminerals AND covergirl at the same time to get the coverage i’m looking for.
i just ordered about 8 different valana mineral samplers (i picked so many because of a few of them look like great eye shadows!) so i’ll see if i get the affect i want. i saw them on KTLA news back in september, i think, and it seemed to boast how it doesn’t have that chalky coverage that bareminerals has. so, we’ll see…. foundations like covergirl are kind of upsetting with such a limited palette. unless i found a covergirl bronzer to mix with a foundation to give dimension. i dunno…i should be getting my valana order by the end of next week!

but, as an artist, i’m becoming a little more experimentative. i’m discovering ways to still be natural, but to help even out my skin tone. i found a nice lipstick that matches my lip color but evens out the color cuz sometimes my color changes or is uneven. so the lipstick keeps it the color that it usually is when i am most healthy and warm. it’s from covergirl! it’s the trushine collection. for foundation, i’ve tried the bare minerals collection but was unimpressed. it makes my skin look chalky and drive and, with my acne, it doesn’t cover as much as i would like. i’ve actually ended up using the light colored eye shadow to cover up my pimples. it covers pretty well, but since it’s so yellow/white… it creates a sort of cloudy region on my skin.
there IS a mineral makeup called valana, especially made for non-white skin. i would like to try it, but it’s pretty expensive. like 28 bucks a container! but, if i could get a sample or something, i’ll try it. i would also like to try covergirl or something. i want to see how i’d like a liquid foundation. but, hopefully it won’t irritate my already very sensitive skin.
i DO like the bareminerals eye shadows and stuff. but they are too soft sometimes. i would like to get a good eye liner and some good varieties of eye shadow colors to suit my mood. although i tend to stay natural. but for an evening look, i do like to spice it up just a little. i would also like to get a little brave with color. i don’t think i’m quite confident enough to sport a hot red lipstick… but who knows! perhaps it is forseeable in my future!

Go into somewhere big like boots or superdrug. have a bit of paper with what you want written on it. pretend you are useing a shopping list. buy one thing at a time and it wont look like you are experimenting with make up.
pick up bits at a supermarket, again use a list.
