This is so hard because I can only find temporary positions – like summer or holiday jobs. I would love to work somewhere where I won’t always feel like “the new girl.”
I have an interview today but it’s only for the winter holiday season. I hope I can convince them that I’m a great enough employee and they’ll keep me on longer.

Set hours and times so its easier to plan around. I am used to having jobs where i don’t know my schedule until last minute, and its not working for me.

Tonight was my first real night working. It was great. Nice to be making real money!

I have an interview/orientation at the annual fund today from 4-6 pm. So hopefully that is steady, at least for the winter break. I would love to make alot of money this break, and then put it all in my bank account and just gloat about how much money has been saved.
hahah.
Or I could use the money to do something really fun.

I went to the Annual fund and they said that they would call me around the beginning of January. That’s the best I can do right now.
I keep hoping that something will come up…like working at the library or at a bookstroe…or something else book related.

I am going to apply to one place I know of today…that would be amazing to be able to just apply there and get it!

Okay, I don’t actually start until Monday, so I guess it’s not steady yet. Still, it’s an actual full-time developer position – salary, not contract. Good pay, actual health benefits … my own cubicle. You don’t realize how much you miss things like that until you’ve spent a little time without them.
Huzzah is a funny word.

My brother has ADD. I wonder if I might, too. Sometimes I can focus very well, work hard, and get a lot of stuff done. Other times1 I am distracted, can’t focus, and just get frustrated when I try to pin my attention to anything productive.
Hell, I couldn’t even finish this post without wandering off to LJ and posting a reply to somebody’s posting there.
Anyways, I think dealing with this chronic scatterbrainedness (whether it’s ADD or not) may help a lot with selecting, getting, and keeping a steady job.
1 A lot of other times, really. Maybe not 50% of the time, but certainly more than 25%.

I’m nearly done with my first week of full-time work as a developer/admin/everything guy for a small company here in Seattle. Even better, I’ve been able to get a lot of Ruby code in the mix. Yep, it’s a good week.
This is a contract-to-hire position, and I’m going to work really hard to make sure it becomes full-time.

I’m starting to get more than a little bored of doing contract programming. I’ll take those jobs when that’s what’s available, but I’m thinking more and more about the charms of being employed by the same company for a whole year.
Ruby, Perl, Python, I don’t care. Heck, I’m even looking at Java, .NET, and PHP.
