i have lived just outside of the city for my entire life and have yet to make it to the top of this amazing landmark. being terrified of heights but having an everlasting love affair with this city, i have been torn on wether or not to make the trip up to the top. by summer’s end, i want to be able to add this to my list of accomplishments.

How I did it: I went to NYC and took an elevator to the 86th floor of the Empire state building and I looked over New York City and it was beautiful. Simply beautiful. I would totally recommend this!!!! And do it when you're a kid so you can have stories to tell your grandchildren :) Read how I did it…

I’m going to NYC with a friend for a week in June. I’ll finally be able to do this! :)
Went up to the top on 24/08/08 at about 11pm and the view was spectacular. Night is definitely the best time to go, when the whole of New York is lit up. Magic.
Some of the best photos I have taken in New York are from the top of the Empire State Buildings. The queues are long an tiring but take an entertaining friend and the time will pass quickly. It is worth the wait.
no movie or picture does it justice. it had snowed on the day i was up there, it was a magnificent sight.
So I have lived in NEW YORK MY whole life and i have never been to the empire state building. I find it sad that all tourist visit and have these amazing pictures and yet i have never been there. How can i call myself a new yorker… sigh.
I really wanna take the time to go!

I did this on a clear November evening in 2006. The top was lit up with red, white and blue as the elections were being held the following day. It may have been dark, but New York isn’t short of lights. You can see right down Broadway and Fifth Avenue – if you can cope with going to the edge of the viewing platform.
totally worth it..amazing view :D :D and there’s railings all round so no danger of falling for those scared of heights lol =)
