I went on a company trip a few years ago and I got to visit the Washington Memorial. It was great.
How to go to the top of the Washington Memorial.
It made me 
"Best view in the city"
How I did it: I went to college in DC and in the course of exploring the city, a trip to the top was a must. It's even more spectacular if you can go up in the evening and see the planes landing at National Airport. At one point you could also climb the steps instead of taking the elevator, but not sure if they still offer that option.
