I’m one of those people who don’t realize the clutter is building until weeks later and one day I notice that I can’t see any of my counter tops or desk tops. This is a chronic problem for me and one I need to deal with daily. I hope soon I can get uncluttered and then remember to check thing every day to make sure it doesn’t keep happening.

uncluttering my home 23 months ago

I am trying to prepare my home for a child that we are adopting and my home is extremely cluttered. We barely have room to walk much less sit down to eat or even watch television. If I dont do this we will have absolutely no room for the baby or its belongings.

I need to unclutter so that I can lift some guilt from my shoulders. I have found flylady and keep returning to that but that are sections of the house (my yarn stash) that are out of control. Just keep trying…

We have moved into a much bigger, nicer house but the junk just keeps growing. I think I have to start with one room at a time and unclutter them. I think if I donate my stuff to a shelter or Goodwill store I will feel good about getting rid of things.

Well, I never started the great eBay adventure.

I still have as much clutter as I did before, but it’s getting cleaner and more organized.

I am determined to simplify my life. DETERMINED I SAY!

I can’t believe how much shit I have. I can’t unclutter because there is no room to move. So starting tomorrow, I am beginning the great eBay adventure.

First step... 3 years ago

While wandering the mall today, I stopped into the bookstore and I got something to try and help me with this thing. It’s simple, it’s fairly thorough and I’m cheap.

something I'm NOT going to do 4 years ago

I’ve been trying to get rid of clutter for a long time. In the past I have gone through “self-help book buying binges” on Amazon.com when I experienced renewed resolve to unclutter. But a couple of years ago I discovered flylady.net, and the flylady rule is that you should declutter for 15 minutes a day. I haven’t been doing that for awhile because of the Halloween season—I LOVE Halloween and always buy lots of stuff every year even though I NEVER put up all of my decorations. Anyway, I want to get back on track and I’ve just done some decluttering and then I was about to buy some books but I didn’t.

How do I let go? 4 years ago

I hate getting rid of things because in the past I have found that the day after I gave something away, I then found I needed that item. This has happened many times in my life and it makes me gun shy about getting rid of stuff.
