be an exchange student

sooo i sent it in and didn’t get an email :O so i emailed afs and asked if that was normal, and they checked to see if they got it and they did! they actually sent it already, but to the wrong email! the mistaked the email to be xxxIII@yahoo.com, instead of xxx111@yahoo.com :O but they fixed it and now i have my username/password :D i’m so eager to start filling it out now! xD

i’m finally sending in my pre. app. probably not this weekend, but hopefully the week after.

i got a recommendation letter from my teacher so during the summer i won’t have to wait NEXT YEAR to get one, and also how would a brand new teacher have anything to say about me? they don’t even know me!
haha so i am VERY happy i got one now o-o

Yay as! I recieved a phone call last night to tell me that my application had been successful and I’m going to the UK for exchange! It’s a short 3 week inter-service Army Cadet thing, doing awesome bush-bashing and fun challenging stuff, as I understand. AWESOME AS. Goodluck to all you other exchange hopefuls! There is success out there ;D

actually, my first choice is japan and second is hong kong, also. i really wanted to go this coming year, but because you need a 3.0 cumulative gpa, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen :/ so i’ll probably go halfway through next year.
and i want to apply to both AFS and rotary.
straight a’s until january 2010 :]

to where else?! JAPAN!
i want to go 2011-2012 (well honestly i’d rather go ‘10-’11, but my father says that’s too short of time heh)
so far i’m doing everything that my father asked
(being slightly more responisble and ‘mature’ which in his definition is doing chores without having to be told to heh)
i’m going with AFS, is anybody else? i need to send out my pre.app. and then we’ll start the long and grueling (but just so exciting! :P) full app.! and of course the added nerve-wrecking, anxious-ridden (did i use ‘ridden’ right. probably not. heh) in home and out of home interviews! woo!

but i am truly excited for this. every day i think about this and me in Japan.
if not Japan, Hong Kong! and i’m still not sure where my 3rd place would be… but hopefully that won’t have to matter!

Okay, so it turned out the deadline for applications was moved forward a few weeks. But I came through and did an application I’m proud of, and I’ve posted it away. I’ve got Norway, UK and then Germany as my Top 3.

I’ve got a few weeks to wait now while it goes through various selection panels and they cull down the numbers to the final people that will get to go – all hope is pinned on that I won’t be one of those weeded out.

I passed all of the exams. Now I only have to fill in the forms as well as I can and make it presentable so that a family chooses me to stay with them.

This is a HUGE dream of mine. Not many programs offer it from Ireland though =(
