We all arrived at Wollman Rink in Central Park just as the zambonis were finishing up. I teetered a bit, but I enjoyed gliding along and by the end I was doing pretty well and felt pretty confident about skating around. My biggest fear was that I would fall horribly, but I did just fine. An unfortunate sock injury [a big, popped blister] ended my fun, but I got hot chocolate and when the place needed to be zambonied again, we all went out and got Italian food in the Village.
It was fun! I’m definitely glad I went. The rink was small and pretty crowded and the strings of parents with little kids was a big obstacle. I’d definitely do it again… my boyfriend is even thinking about buying himself a pair of skates just to have them! Plus it was a good excuse to get back in touch with my friend J, who I haven’t seen for five or so years. I don’t know when I’ll plan another, but I’d like to do it again…
