to this goal! More than ever actually…
I feel overwhelmed though. There is so much going on that I feel like “Wow” I actually recorded a song. But after this single release, there will be a lot of work ahead of me. Writing songs, recording songs, singing engagements!
I’m looking forward to it all! I want it so badly. Music is my passion, and that is truly an understatement!
The excitement is building! The CD release celebration is in about 6 days!

Well…Saturday, I had to sing at a wedding. As I’ve said in the past, I am Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer. Well, I had to sing “The Lord’s Prayer”, and I was so nervous because they asked me like 4 or 5 times if I was ready to sing. I said yes each time to put them at ease. I figured it would turn out okay, ya know?
Anyway, I got up to sing, completely doubting myself. I only practiced the song twice with the musician. I was all like, “Que sera, sera.” Anyway, sang the song with my eyes closed-no way that I’m looking at all those people-put my mind on Jesus-finish the song-sit down-maybe they won’t notice how terrible it was.
I opened my eyes…and silence. Then, clapping! The whole church clapped AT A WEDDING!!
What?! This has never happened?! I’m so not tooting my own horn here. I’m still floored!
They actually clapped…

music lately. I love doing this. My friend Keisha and I write together and when we can’t we do what we can apart. There has been more than one occasion where I have sang snippets of songs to her voicemail. It never fails that she has the missing pieces to the puzzle.
I was on YouTube and came across this video. It’s awesome and hope that the group we sing in can make beautiful music like this. These ladies are awesome!

I wrote this when there was 7 of us. About a year ago July 9 to be exact it was a year, Jada S. Lang died. She was only 18, but she died in a car wreck and now there is only 6. We are struggling a little, but we’ll come out on top. We’re taking it every day at a time, but we’ll never be the same since Jada left us.

I just want to close my eyes, and sing. I want to sing like I have nothing left to give, because in the end, thats all I have. A voice. No one can take that from me; or from anyone.

This could be a metaphor for getting along REALLY well with a boy that I might wanna spend some time with…like the rest of my life.
BUT
I’m just gonna use it’s literal sense here today. I became a part of a singing group called The Women of Worship. I love it because we do make beautiful music together. I’m a soprano and there are about seven of us in the group and we sing in church and at weddings. I absolutely love it because I can see us making it one day. Maybe ending up on someone’s stage singing Glory to God.
I think I’m gonna make that a THING of mine and leave this category to the metaphorical sense! :-) (hehe)

Is kind of bittersweet.
Last night there was a party I went to that had a PA system hooked up, and the host was encouraging anyone and everyone to bring their instruments and play some live music.
I thought it’d be a good way to get in some experience, so I brought my guitar along.
I had a good time playing.
Even though I stunk the place up, it was still pretty cool to get out there and just play.
Back to my lazy summer afternoon.

And I’ve begun to realize just how much room I have to improve.
I mean, I knew I was pretty average but.. yikes.
And don’t get me started on vocals.
But, it seems like some people enjoy what I do, so that’s a good sign.
I want to reach the level of my heros. Including, but not limited to: John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Aaron Marsh of Copeland, Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw and Head Automatica, Daft Punk, Paul Gilbert (this will take A LOT of practice), Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, James Brown, and Stevie Ray Vaughaun.

I’ve stood up with 40 other people – about 10 on each part, or 5, depending if it split up… And we’ve made beautiful music. You’ll know when you get it. I felt goosebumps.
