I’m taking Yoga twice a week this quarter – I figure I’ll try to go running the other three days…

I’m SOOOO going to be fit!

Lent + Next Quarter 22 months ago

I’ve taken up doing Yoga for Lent… It’s not going as spectacularly as planned, but I’m still doing it. I’ve gotten very good at the crow pose, but I’d still like to be able to hold it for a minute.

I got Baron Baptiste’s Unlocking Athletic Power. It’s a pretty good workout – it’s cool that it includes the Crow Pose – but I wish it went a little slower. I mean, I like Power Yoga, but in my class, we always held poses a little longer for increased strength and endurance. But it could become regular – it’s not an “easy” workout for me yet, and definitely leaves room for modifications.

My problem is in being motivated enough to actually do the routine. But I enjoy it once I actually start it. I want to do it at least 4 times a week, and my schedule leaves plenty of room for that, with at least 3 hours each afternoon. Again, it’s just in the actual DOING of the routine.

Step One... 2 years ago

I just got a Yoga mat for Christmas – I intend to find a DVD that I like – maybe a set – and go from there… I mean, I know the sun salutation flow, and a few other flows, which, don’t get me wrong, are GREAT; I think I need something more – at least once or twice a week – to replace my yoga class.

scattered thoughts about a fixed routine 2 years ago

I have been taking classes, reading books and practicing videos for about five years. My eventual goal is to become a teacher- I hope to teach gentle yoga. I am currently working on developing a video for people that is basic, and not necessarily “gentle”. This is helping me learn how to make a good routine for a vatiety of people with a variety of goals. As far as making my own routine, I have not been able to figure that out just yet- mostly because I am scattered: at times I wnt a gentle class or meditative and relaxing flow, at times I want to hold poses that might require strength or flexibility, and at times I wnt to do a challenging and powerful vinyasa.

3 days a week in between cardio/lifting 3 years ago

I’ve developed a good routine that can be done in between 15 – 45 minutes, and it works just as well if you’re doing a “flow” style or holding the poses longer. I thought it would be hyperbole to say that this has “changed my life”, but it’s true – this has changed my life – absolutely worth doing!

I may come back to list the whole routine, but if I don’t, get in touch, and I’ll send it to you.

last nights class 4 years ago

well it was energetic and relaxing all at once. I believe I may have fallen asleep during the relaxation at the end.

I certainly slept well and I slept in this morning.

Will go again

The tutor suggested starting with sun salutation as a simple but satisfying routine and expand from there. I also want to be able to do the counter poise for the shoulder stand.

yoga tonight 4 years ago

I am going to go to a new class tonight.

I love yoga when I go 4 years ago

The way my job is arranged I dont have a routine so its difficult to always get to a class.

Im going to get a short routine that I can just do at home and try to do it in the weeks I cant get to the classes.

Have also arranged to go to a different Yoga class next wednesday with a friend to get inspired again.
