I no longer have any desire to do this.

Meaganoff needs to get some sleep!
I don’t have any bills right now, except car payment / insurance, so I don’t really need to be doing this. I can take care of everything from my online banking. Maybe I’ll do this in a year or so.
Meaganoff needs to get some sleep!
I have tried to do this twice, and lost momentum. I’m going to get started again tonight, and try to formulate a plan for keeping it going. I like having those pie charts that show you what you spent on what, and plus I want to know how much I’m spending on gas.
I used to be a Quicken junkie. I even worked at Intuit on Quicken for years. After my son was born, Quicken quickly became a no-priority. Now I’m trying again, because I’m spending too much money.
There were some advantages to Quicken. I knew my net worth. I saw how much went to taxes. I could pinpoint a transaction. I’d rebalance my portfolio. I felt “in control,” whatever that means. But, with too many life stresses, it wasn’t worth the time.
Now I’m back. For me, right now, the main benefit of Quicken is the fun factor. I need to track spending-the act of recording things makes you more aware of them-and Quicken is just fun.
A long hard day of work. My new goal: Keep track of my finances in Quicken monthly.
