Absolutely awe-inspiring. They’re so unique and passionately raw about their music, it’s like nothing else in this world. I didn’t really take people seriously when they said you basically need a couple days in your calendar after a TMV gig clear to mentally recover. I thought ‘yeah right’, but it’s seriously true! I saw them exactly a week ago and am only just about back to my self. Do whatever you can to go see them, as long as you have an open mind and just let yourself go in the lilting, passionate music, you won’t regret it.
How to see The Mars Volta live
How I did it: I've been a fan since 2003, but for many different reasons I couldn't attend any of the concerts they offered near me, until 2006. I bought a ticket as soon as possible.
As of november 2008, I've seen them live 3 times.

I have tickets to Sasquatch. Its at the end of this month so I’m excited! They are playing. Too bad that it isn’t their show for three hours. But any Volta is better than no Volta.
If you want to appreciate them, listen to their music….alot….you’ll start to understand their layers and layers of sounds, and hopefully appreciate it.

So you may of heard on the news that tornadoes ripped through downtown Atlanta… and that included the Tabernakle where MARS VOLTA was going to play… awesome….
BASICALLY… I’m saying show was cancelled.
Due to a series of very unfortunate events, I just BARELY missed the opportunity to buy tickets to see them at the Ventura Theater at the end of the month. So mad.
Oh well, there will be a next time I’m sure.
who could possibly mistake that bitchy caterwauling for actual SINGING? Those noises arent supposed to come out of a guy…TMV do not belong opening up for SOAD, which is how I saw them. Overrated.
All these people on here are like “Oh it was the best live show ever!” Obviously, you havent seen very many bands live. This year ALONE, the past twelve months or so, I’ve seen, TMV twice, but SOAD twice, Disturbed, Ozzy Osbourne, Avenged Sevenfold, Kasabian, Jet, Oasis, 311, Weezer, Foo Fighers, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, ALICE IN CHAINS, Buckcherry, Seether, Kottonmouth Kings, Necromantix, and Tool.
Go see a REAL band!!
was, to my surprise, really great. I love the Latin influences in the music – I typically would never go to a show like that, but a friend invited me along. The Mars Volta opened for System of a Down – a band I definitely could not handle. I swear I was the oldest person at the show that night…I saw kids there – I mean, like 10 years old. People were walking around during the Volta set, like they didnt get it or didnt want to. Another band, Hella (I think, all I can say is…”uhhh…ok”). Everyone was there for the headline I guess…
