build a portfolio

My photography portfolio is nearly finished and needs some tweaking before it goes live. I can’t wait to see what the response is; I’ve gotten mostly positive comments about my photos on Flickr and I’ve been talking about building a portfolio for aaaaages yawn.

I’m glad I took the first step, and I’ll update this when it goes live!

But I managed to put 20 pieces into a coherent portfolio over this fall and winter. This week, it got me into an MFA program in graphic design! The lesson learned, for me, was to just sit down and DO it. I had no frame of reference for judging my work, but I made myself do it even when my self-confidence was at rock bottom.

I want to go back to school to study something more creative than my stodgy Business degree allows. Art, Design, Architecture, Landscaping, its all interesting to me. I want to build a portfolio with exaples of all of these genres so I can move towards the field of study that makes me the happiest.
