I was named after a LOTR character and I still haven’t read them all the way through. Problem is, everyone assumes I love LOTR and have an expert level of information on them but it’s more my parents’ passion than my own—I didn’t name myself. My dad read me “The Hobbit” when I was in preschool and we always listened to the BBC version of the LOTR on our family roadtrips (parents are Tolkien fanatics obviously). Plus, with the movies, I have a cursory knowledge. I actually like the first book but I always lose steam halfway through. In the end, I feel obligated to read and MUST…someday.

I read these books when I was 11. I remember thinking how cool would it be if they made these books into movies and now that they have I wasn’t disappointed and yet reading the books was still better. I try to reread the series every couple of years now. They still haven’t lost any of their magic for me.
Well I’m about half way though the prequal The Hobbit and it’s been that way for a while!
