A goal complete :D So last night I went to Somerset House with my friend to see a double bill showing of The Descent and The Thing!
When we got there it was kinda packed on the floor already and we had to find a space to sit down. We got our cushions and a blanket out and tried to get comfy hehe. The Descent was introduced by the director, which was cool! They said that last year the scary movie they played was The Shining and it got a great reaction and they thought they definitely had to have another scary movie showing this year and they thought of The Descent almost straight away. Then what better to go further and “scare the shit out of you again straight after with The Thing”. Their words, not mine. I hadn’t seen either films, but The Thing was on my scary movie list to watch. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting the films to be great – I just wanted to go for the experience. I was surprised, because both film were really good. The Descent probably would of been better in an indoor building – it’s hard to feel claustrophobic or anything in the open air lol. It made us jump a couple of times, but it wasn’t particularly scary for me.
There was a 15 minute break and then they showed the second film of the night. By this time some people were leaving and there wasn’t many left at the end. The Thing didn’t really make me scared, although it had some “grusome” shots. I’m used to them now I guess, but I’m sure they wouldn’t of been nice for some people. In fact, I was laughing quite a bit through The Thing.
All in all it was a great experience, with two films totally worth watching. I’m really glad I got to go. 4 years ago
