Nadais is looking for the exit sign.
Seeing as I have 3 weeks of vacay to take this year, we want to get out of the city for a few days. I would love to visit Quebec City and show the girls a bit of history, and beautiful architecture. The road trip might be fun too!!

We only stayed for two nights and one day, but my wife and I crammed a lot in! First of all, we stayed at a great hotel that was a block away from Le Chateau Frontenac, called Chateau Bellevue: the room was very tiny but it was a decent price, and the location was right smack in the middle of Old Town. And they had a wine vending machine, where you could get glasses of wine for from between $2 to $10. Not really worth it, taste-wise, but I couldn’t rightly stay in a place with a wine vending machine and NOT use it.
We spent our time walking and sightseeing all over: we saw The Plains of Abraham, the Old Port, the Musee du Civilisation, The Citadelle, Le Chateau Frontenac, and stopped in to shop at the antique district, the market at the port, and at the fairly touristy but still interesting Lower Town. Our meals were mostly good, but the best meal was the one that cost the least: a piece of lait-cru cheddar (i.e., made from fresh, unpasteurized milk), a piece of brie, a baguette, and a bottle of wine. It was delicious.
Overall, it was a little much to cram into just over a day, but it gave me a taste and I’d like to go back to visit in a few more years to see more of the city and surrounding area.

I’m Leaving Today! I’m on a plane in 3 hours (which means I’m leaving the house in 45 minutes) and am taking a whirlwind trip, part of which includes Quebec City. I’m not there as long as I’d like to be, but it’s a start. I’ll send word to my 43T friends & subscribers when and if I’m able, but for now: I’m OFF, BABY!

All booked!

I booked the hotel yesterday, my husband and I are going back over Memorial Day weekend! We are staying at a 4 star hotel (not the chateau… but very nice) just outside the walls in Youville (that is spelt wrong), which is a trendy newer part of the city. I’m psyched. Our goal for this trip is to find a peice of Inuit art to purchase.

My husband and I have visited Quebec City at least once a year since 2005, we are both entranced by the history and culture of the city and dream of one day purchasing a condo up there. Our goal is to visit over Memorial Day weekend to take part in the year long celebration of Quebec City’s 400th anniversary.

I went in May 2006 with my whole grade 7 class, it was really great. Make sure to visit The “old Quebec” and try the poutine at Chez Ashton!
