How I did it: Perez Hilton helped me a lot. I quite enjoy a lot of the music he puts up. Also, pandora can be quite useful. I would also type in certain genres I like into google. From there you can choose a site & see all the artists. They show you some great ones! Just never stop being open to new sounds & experiences! I will never truly be done with this goal. I'll always be discovering new music.&nb… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I used last.fm to look for new artists that were somewhat similar to what I listened to, I also checked the favourite bands of my friends. I do recollect reading some reviews from music magazines but I didn't make any interesting discoveries this way.The most important thing: I searched! for something new. Read how I did it…
Cesca is drawing cards.
How I did it: I registered on last.fm and I started to browse it randomly, discovering tons of interesting stuff. I followed recommendations form last.fm and from other users and I became more and more interested in music. Read how I did it…

Music is what feeds the mind, alters the mood, inspires the thoughts. In my case I like to think of it as my personal drug.
Humans are the only creatures to have a part in the brain that interpret sounds into music. Buried deep inside out primitive brain is the area that interprets beats. Therefore music IS a deeply rooted human need that we have been making for thousands of years. Our brains are made to use music as “food for the soul”.
Leonard Cohen, anyone?
I fell for him, his voice, his lyrics, his guitar-playing. Delicately, stupidly, wholeheartedly. Especially, his first album “Songs of Leonard Cohen” makes me drool. How could anyone write such ethereal, wraith-like songs? And some lines get stuck in your head forever: “Loneliness says you have sinned”, “It’s hard to hold the hand of anyone who is reaching for the sky just to surrender” ... Wow. Just wow.
(Favourite Tune: One of Us Cannot Be Wrong)
Intriguing and unusual experimental indie rock band from Alaska. I had some friends who kept talking about their music, so I eventually decided to have a listen. I’m not disappointed at all. I wouldn’t say that it’s my favourite band, yet I recommend them to everyone who likes The Mars Volta or anything alike. They sound a lot like them, I think. The front man’s background is worth checking out, made me a bit thoughtful even.

So far this week I’ve seen a blues band, 3 ska bands and 3 jazz outfits. All bands were very good – especially the blues band and the final jazz band (The James Taylor Quartet).
Camille
A French singer with a sweet, soft voice who was in a band called Nouvelle Vague and is now going solo. She reminds me a bit of Yaël Naïm with her light-hearted chansons.
(Favourite Tune: Paris)
Lykke Li
Another female vocalist, this time from mind-blowing Scandinavia. From Sweden to be exact. Interesting voice. A bit rough, but beautiful. Very different from Camille, though. If you like Bon Iver, you will definitely like her as well. They did some songs together if I’m not mistaken.
(Favourite Tune: My Love)
i’ve found some excellent artists lately!
check them out!
la roux
miike snow
florence & the machine
IO echo
elizabeth & the catapult
stefanie heinzmann
Wow, what an awesome Instrumental post-rock band! So much energy, life and a lot of passion in their songs that it makes me want to buy ALL of their albums. I’m so happy that I’ve discovered them! I could listen to Explosions In the Sky all day long, seriously.
If you don’t know them, go and have a listen. They’re pure awesomeness.
I’m not so much into psychedelic folk or anything alike, however, I discovered Devendra Banhart’s ‘new weird American’ music and I really like some of his songs. I can’t imagine buying an album, though. Maybe I’ll change my mind but for the time being, I enjoy listening to the songs I purchased at iTunes and Amazon.
