I have to say this is something I have wanted to do for years (even though im still young at 21 going on 22!)
I wouldn’t mind going by myself or with others, the latter option probably being much safer and interesting.
If anyone is actually interested in doing this please email me at:

As this is something I will eventually do, please let yourselves be known if you wish to join me.

How to live on a deserted island
How I did it: I established a connection on a island, the contact was less than honest however, it got me to the other side of the world and forced me to make the best of it, I found a paradise that was even greater than I could have hoped for on a motu. I lived in Aitutaki and was really accepted by the community and only people when I wanted to or sometimes while walking around I come a stray tourist.
Lessons & tips: Survival is natural, breathing isn't that hard to do. Having access to a water tank is crucial. Food was so plentiful, but having a garden was more than helpful for providing food, it gave me a job each day to help feel productive for myself. I found that my preparations all went out the window once I got established, the research was nice knowledge, the experience was what helped me thrive in the environment.
Resources: The locals were so helpful, I learned how to catch chickens the island way, fish at the most effecient spots on the lagoon and even farm the island way. I had a couple of survival books and self-sufficency books to help give me ideals on improving comfort. My machette and lighters were priceless, although both were not needed, they were essential and made life easier.

I’m definitely thinking about living on a deserted island. It’s hard to find one with a source of fresh water that’s uninhabited though. Somewhere in the bush or a rain forest wouldn’t be so bad either.
does anyone know of any sites where you can live on a desert island for a month or two. gotta try it …please someone must have some info
Hi, I’m just letting people know there is an active group right now preparing to go and live self sufficiently on an island.

Check it out, help us with research etc.
Not easy getting to a deserted island from the UK though..
But would be brilliant not relying on poor governments.. Don’t think I’d like to do it on my own though.. I would want friends and such around me.. I mean I wouldnt want to get cabin fever like on Cast Away lol

I never thought there were people who wanted to do this. I have always wanted to get away from everything, build me a shelter from the land and live in such an environment that I would have to rely on myself and those few people around me. I think 6 months to a year would be great and see from there if the time should be extended. I think ever since I was a kid reading My Side of the Mountain, I have wanted to just “run away.”

i have recently lost my job, i am 21 and it is my dream to live on a deserted island I AM GOING TO MAKE THIS DREAM A REALITY, I have started to research I AIM TO GO IN A YEAR. MESSAGE me if you have similar feelings OR IF YOU HAVE ANY INFO OR CAN HELP ME WITH MY SEARCH.
I have taken survival classes and outdoor education. All I want is one month. One Month to live in nature not tainted by technology or negativity. The tropics is where I’m going. I’ll hitch hike to the southern coasts if have to.
I’m a musician and live in San Diego, CA - the ocean is literally at my front door. It would be a great take-off point to head to an island in the South Pacific with a few like-minded others for a few months to have the adventure of a lifetime. The initial problem I see is in getting to such an island - transportation there (and back) would have to be arranged, and this is probably easier to do than it actually sounds. If anybody is truly serious about such an adventure (even if it’s only for a a week or two), let’s talk. My email is: braden@hauntedmansion.com
