declutter and simplify

This is very generous seeing as I only have 4 rooms to do! One a week!

...good stuff… valuable stuff…. stuff i will miss…stuff I will never use…. stuff that was not worth storing…stuff that was not worth hiding…stuff that was not worth forgetting about and then finding and saying HEY I BETTER USE THIS THING and then storing it somewhere and forgetting it all over again. My car was so packed for Goodwill, i almost got a babysitter to watch my kids since I was afraid they wouldn’t fit the car.

My next date with simplicity is a dump run. A friend will help me with a pick up truck and then I will be free and clear!

my new mantra (actually it is old but not practiced as fully as it could in my life) less is more….less is more…less is more…

I’ve been a bit of a pack rat and have started to get rid of stuff. I’ve been donating books to the library, tossing out old clothes… but still feels like I have a terribly long way to go.

I’m finding a mixture of feelings arising like remorse and regret. As I go through things I realise the enormity of how many bad decisions I’ve made and how much money I’ve wasted.

Someone told me once that all big losses start small. And that it’s better to accept the loss than continue to hope and wait that things will turn around.

Read the books and give them away.

Finish quilting projects and give them away.

Try recipes and either trash them if we didn’t like it much, or put them in my “tried and true” file.

Buy nothing I don’t absolutely NEED. Give more money to charity instead of spending it on myself.

Shed the DVD collection—Netflix is better.

Finish the home-improvement projects and get the old paint cans out of the house!

Clean out the closets!

I could go on and on!
