I turned up at the venue this morning, and was right on time. Unfortunately… I wasn’t in the right place.
Who knew that there were two Belgian Beer Cafes in Melbourne?! Not me, that’s for sure… until I asked where I could find the Eureka bar, and was informed of its location.
Sometimes I’m a complete and utter nuff-nuff, I swear. I did read the information letter that was sent out to me… it’s just that my brain didn’t register the location, because it didn’t make sense. I assumed it was the Belgian I knew… but you know what they say about assumptions!
So, 45 minutes late, I arrived at the course. It wasn’t a big deal… I really hadn’t missed much, except for a tour around the place. The course itself was quite enlightening. I’ve now realised that all those times I’ve driven home from friends’ houses after a couple of glasses of wine, I was more than likely over the limit. Something to keep in mind.
We had a little practise behind the bar… and let me just tell you… I can pull a beer like an absolute champion! First try, an’ all. The best bit was that we got to consume the beer as well. Bonus.
The course continues next Saturday. Apparently we have the opportunity to do a couple of hours of work experience, and we also get to partake of a basic Barista course, which will be held the following weekend.
