Not worth it!
but this is a very hard career. Apart from long hours and hard and often heartbreaking work, the money is just UNREALISTIC. Our Government does NOT value people it values money. sad but true.
To be a nurse in the UK is kinda like smashing your head against a brick wall day after day. Thank God there are people who think differently.
Worth doing!
Oh my gosh you guys my results have been released and I am one of the thousands of passers of this years Nursing Licensure Exam. It feels so good so I am on my way to my oath taking then i can finally add RN after my name.
Worth doing!
Okay I am on my way to become a RN here in my country. I took the licensure exam and well just waiting for the results… hopefully i pass… please pray for me :)
I just started college working towards my nursing degree. I am in the pre-nursing program right now and I am worried about getting in to the nursing program. I have heard that, due to the shortage of nurses and teachers, it is hard to get in to and that there are long waiting lists. I just have to remind myself that God has a plan for me. And whether I get into the program or not is already decided. The only thing i can do is my best. God will do the rest. That is really hard for me to do, but, what other choice do i have?

Though the US nursing shortage is starting to be less acute now, Nursing is still a field with unlimited potential. There are tons of things you can do with it. Since I became a Nurse (5 short yrs ago) I’ve worked ICU, Level One Trauma Center, Surgery, Emergency and done International Aid work (best to do that when you have a year or two of experience, otherwise you’ll just be lost.) I’m now a traveler in Emergency and it is great.
The pay is acceptable for the level of education. (BS or even AAS or diploma only). The opportunities are endless, and it is easy to forward your education as well.
Yes, there are downsides, my particular one is sometimes working nights :( but compared to many jobs that I could get with just a BS, I must say i think I get a lot more respect and pay…
Worth doing!
Has always held me in good stead but I now want to do something else.
Worth doing!
I am currently on my 4th year in Nursing here in the Philippines… a few more months and hopefully I could graduate… The experience of this profession has greatly improved me as a person and has truly helped me to be the person that I am today… i hope that as I finish this course I can make a difference in people’s life and serve mankind.
Today I had to go see my doctor. I was told he would be working the Walk-in Clinc and so I went during those hours to see him. When I finally got into a room (an hour wait) the doctor that came in wasn’t my doctor! I explained the situation and he was nice about it. He asked me how my summer was going, I told him I was going to Summer School. I told him about how I wanted to go into nursing so I needed to earn as many science credits I could. He wished me the best of luck on becomming a nurse. That alone made me feel that much closer to getting where I want to be and doing what I want to do.
